What happened to it? Why has everyone stopped using it? There were daily threads about it a decade ago
>>
the plebeian hordes now use Spotify, which mimics some of last.fm's functions
>>
These days normies link their social accounts with last.fm, so it's completely understandable not to want to share your account here. It's an easy pathway to being doxxed or exposed.
>>
I made my account in mid 2025, I came too late to the party. I lost like 3 years of my life of scrobbles

>What happened to it? Why has everyone stopped using it?
It's still doing fine, also it got a bit of a resurgence thanks to discord bots (fmbot) a few years ago
>>
>>129044058
Times change, anon. Right now broccoli heads are all about streaming on apps like spotify, and they will feel like you in 10 years when 100% of the music is AI generated and generation Alpha tweens listen to it on whatever platform is trendy in 2035
>>
>>129044058
I still use it. Not that easy because I must use Apple Music on desktop. I also use YT Music sometimes but YTM and mobile AM won’t scrobble online content.
>>
>>129044058
I use it but I have low ratings with everyone on /mu/ so I don't even bother posting in he threads anymore
I just archive my listening
>>
>>129044058
Ive been using it since 2005 and it seems like its more popular now than it was 10 years ago and somehow has been granted a second life thanks to a new generation of zoomers using it now

this post would feel like a weird fever dream in 2012 but today it might just be reality but not in a good way, fuck me
>>
I still use to scrobble but thats all
(((They))) mutilated their own website, you can't personalize your profile, you cant make groups and no more edgy jokes and no more trolls, also no more hot girls
it just sucks ass
>>
It's a million times more popular now than during the 2015-2020 where it was completely empty
>>
I still use it, it feels good when you get a random shout on your profile
>>
had to stop using lastfm because anons would stalk my profile and post the things I was listening to here

the biggest issue with last.fm is that there is no timeline on the homepage to interact with your friends. It makes following someone completely pointless.
>>
>>129044058
it’s abandonware. they have like 1 jeet working on it
>>
I hate having a record of every single song I listen to. It's overwhelming. Also ironically I felt like I was late to the party because I began scrobbling in late 2011 and most of my friends had thousands more scrobbles than me. The final straw was 2014 or 15 when they killed the plug in I had that showed my plays by time listened. I spent most of my time listening to live Velvet Underground and Les Rallizes Denudes, but they were never my top artists by play count because their songs were 4 or 5 times as long as other artists.
>>
>>129045181
removing groups was a mistake
>>
>>129045181
I think the intention is to go to artists pages to look at your mutual followers stats. Its not very intuitive for discovering new things but everyone listens to everything now that music is more accessible and available than ever before
>>
the UI is terrible. I use it to archive my listening history, but I never liked using it for anything else. Also there's a few longstanding bugs it looks like no one is actively working on it.
>>
>>129044058
I use it since 2011. It has helped me immensly in finding great music.
>>
>scrobbling since 2007
>>
>>129044058
there used to be lastfm threads here like a year ago but the posters were always the same so there was no point in keep making them.
but lastfm related threads are active everyday, I mean the 3x3 charts.
>>
>>129044204
Scrobbling by linking your Spotify account to your Last.fm account is shit, btw. Most songs were fine but some got scrobbled twice and some not at all.
Use Pano Scrobbler or something instead.

what's that?

elaborate?

I only noticed this a few months ago. why did they do that, are they retarded?
>>
I stopped using it years ago. Logged in the other day and saw my buddy never stopped. He has over a decade of scrobbles. We used to be neck and neck. Kind of made me depressed. Good for him though.

Beta lol, gen Alpha are all tweens right now
>>
>>129044058
Normies this days use Spotify stats, a page that is essentially last.fm, or the Apple Music/Jewtube Music monthly wrapped. There are a lot of people returning to the MP3's but they are listening in shitty iPod mini clones from Temu.
It's the personalized experience era and, sincerely, track on Last.fm is inconvenient if you only use the official tools.

Oldest Gen Alpha it's like 15 lmao

GOTTA SCROBBLE
>>
>>129044058
Social features removed, development abandoned and bots dominate charts and voting.

The only good use for it now is reviewing your own listening but every music streaming app has this integrated now.
>>
>>129050534
>elaborate?
nta but last.fm had an abnormally large online female population for quite a while
that more or less died off with the redesign and mutilation of social features but there are still more women on last.fm than most sites imo

I had issues scrobbling through Spotify where entire days wouldn't get scrobbled till I unironically paid for last.fm pro and it hasn't happened to me since
>>
>>129057760
Pano Scrobbler is worth it anyway, autoremoval of shit like "(Remastered)" for example.

There were a lot of cool last.fm websites back then too, for generating different charts and the like.
Although https://lastfmstats.com/ is pretty decent as well.
>>
>>129044058
It's funny I visited my account when I last used it around 2018. Feels weird to see all the old songs I used to listen to, I rediscovered some gems.
