How autistic are you about tagging your music collection?>be me>have 60,000 untagged audio files>autistically obsess over doing it right>read The Chicago Manual of Style for title casing rules>prioritize the back cover, then discogs, then wikipedia for song title spelling>standardize a system of tags for things like EPs, live compilations, bootlegs>manually tag the 60,000 files>write python scripts to detect incorrect letter casing>write additional scripts to rename the files based on the correct tags>be almost done 15 years laterWhat is your process?

>>129045449I mostly listen to metal so I just use the casing that Metal Archives uses for song/album titles. The tags I bother filling in are:>Artist Name>Track Title>Album Title>Date>Genre>Track Number>Total Tracks
>>129046244MA is definitely best for metal albums. Discogs capitalizes everything, wich is retarded. And wikipedia gets a lot of things wrong. But the gold standard is if the song titles on the back cover match the titles in the liner notes and what's on the disc label, and from there you can just use the proper styling rules from The Chicago Manual of Style to capitalize them.
>>129045449Post screenshots or your a gay, fat fucking liar.
>>129046389I use the same casing MA uses for non-metal albums as well. I think it's just "the" and prepositions that start with lowercase and everything else with uppercase.

I dont listen in itunes but found it a good tool for editing tags titles and art, but ive been using it for like 15-20 years so theres probably something better. I remember downloading Bright Eyes discography and no song title was capitilized and no track numbers. It felt great when I was done until I listened to them and realized Bright Eyes fucking SUCKS.
I just put everything through MusicBrainz Picard. Maybe people will call me retarded for this, but it works well enough for me
