Is it kino?
>>129048972‘Dixie’ is one of the greatest songs in the history of popular music, and it’s a credit to our Northern brethren than one of their own could churn outsuch an absolute slobberknocker; Stephen Foster is also our country’s finest songwriter TO THIS DAY, no matter how racist and sentimental his songs are to modern ears.
>>129048972I had a period when I was like 16 where I almost exclusively listened to these guys, Derek Warfield, Bobby Horton and compilations of Stephen Foster songs and other 19th century folk songs. Usually while I played the Napoleonic War mod for Mount and Blade Warband or modded Empire/Napoleon Total war with American Civil War units.I also really liked The Monitor by Titus Andronicus cause it was civil war themed too
>>129048972I listened to this album a few weeks ago. Lately I’ve been getting into American folk music from the 18th and 19th century.
>>129048972Their renditions of American folk music is extremely good. Compare to other covers of the same song, most of them have this corny vibe but when the South Carolina string band plays, they brings this grittiness into them that most haven’t brought. It feels that you’re actually there and they bring some meanness into their songs
>>129048972Yes. I actually have this album on CD. As a European, I have no real associations with "the south," but it's damn good music. They really know their stuff.
>>129048972I love how their official YouTube channel left a comment under a nightcore video of one of their songs in utter bewilderment lol. They seem like a really down-to-earth bunch.
