>>129049856Piano for ten years when I was a kid. I hated every minute of it then but I'm glad I went through it because I retained almost all of the music theory I learned. I would keep it up, but the piano is at my mom and dad's house and I don't have the room for it at my place. Now, I'm learning bass and harmonica and I'm doing vocal training. We'll see what I branch into later. When I checked the musicians tab in Craigslist after I was scouting for a bass upgrade, I noticed a lot of "drummer wanted" listings, maybe that will be a good place to go next thanks to bass. I'm probably more of a rhythm guy than a melody guy anyway.
I played violin for 15 years from age 8 to university graduation. I had fun, did a lot of performances, played in a semi-professional outfit and a decent cover band in university. I also got one of the finest solid body electric violins made. I fell out of love with the instrument, unfortunately. I told myself and others that I disliked the sound of the violin and that I regretting not learning much in the way of chords. I should have learned guitar or piano. I think that's mostly true, but there's a part of me that isn't fully convinced. It's like I'm sitting here unsure why I don't play it any more. I haven't really played much since then, although I think a newfound appreciation for bluegrass music is calling me back to the fiddle. I still toy around with a ukulele, otamatone, and a Novation Circuit groovebox.>>129049888In my opinion, double down on guitar instead of violin lol>>129052746>violin was hard afIt is hard af. You have to be comfortable with sounding really bad for a long time. Even when you're good at it, it doesn't stop being piercing. It can be exhausting to listen to when you're practicing without an orchestra.

So I wont worry for a while about picking up violin. I'm comfy focusing on MIDI keys rn.I hate that the acoustic violin is all ear, if you dont have ear for that instrument you are fucked, its a long grind. Legit the most difficult instrument I have ever picked up. No I'm not picking Saxophone I heard its hard af too.
The synth, so technically a keyboard, the theory behind it's really fascinating, I play like shit but I can make good sounds ig
