>30s>Still listen to edgy metalcore and mall emo from my teens
mall emo is not a real genre
>>129050408Neither's "edgy metalcore"
I was also that guy but by about 34 for some reason I had moved to bigbeat DnB and tracid which led back to Vivaldi and honestly all I need.
>>129050408 emo is a sub genre of punk rock. I dont see it as more complicated than that. They vary in style, lyrics and sometimes song structure.
>>129050394I mean, yeah, but when my parents were in their 30s, they still listened to The Beatles. Every generation does this.
>>129050394I suddenly stopped around 34 or 35. I mean I enjoy the music I liked when I was younger, but now I'm able to appreciate other music I never would have given a shot. Like I stopped caring about how people perceive me based on my listening habits (pathetic it took me this long, actually). Also I can no longer relate to a lot of the metalcore/hardcore shit that really spoke to me as a teen. I'm not a sad, cynical kid anymore. My friends still listen to the EXACT same shit as when we were teens. In some way, I'm jealous they found that one thing that will always resonate with them. In other ways, I'm embarrassed by their inability to try new things.
>>129050394same, but I'm 47 and I still listen to real '90s emo
I still mostly just listen to the indie folk and twee I posted about on here in 2012
>>129053845it is more complicated than thatemo is a subgenre of HARDCORE punk which varies to punk not just in terms of music but in terms of ethics too. hardcore punk used to be dominated by either sentiments of complete positivity or non-sentimental tough guy anthems and ironically a counter movement to how shitty and filled with posers punk had gotten ("punk rock" was all about drinking, pushing into people and it was incredibly dishonest to what it was making itself out to be). emo came in as a countermovement to hardcore punk by adding more emotional, sentimental and vulnerable themes although still sharing the same ethics as hardcore punk. however, mall emo completely discredits ANY ethics or even musical conveniences emo had at that time and therefore it can be argued that 2000s pop punk emo is not real emo due to the fact that it takes away all the hardcore principles emo musicians had in mind
>>129050394Honestly I enjoy Limp Bizket more now than I did back then
>>129050394>mid 20s>still listen to Atlanta and Memphis trap music
>>129050394I got into metalcore in my 30s.
>>129057850based, enjoy. Underoath is good.
>>129057945nta but UnderOath and The Devil Wears Prada are great
what kind of metalcore?
>>129057945>>129058053Do you have any recs if I'm really into Killswitch Engage? They were the first band that really clicked for me. I can listen to all their 2000s albums without skips pretty much. I tried to get into other bands like Trivium but didn't much care for them.I'ma check out Underoath and TDWP in the meantime.

>>129050394Not a chance. The day I hit 25, I flipped immediately to 'mature adult' music with quality production and lyrics with correct grammar:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bbahCukfY3chttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypbjIwbTR8chttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1OBihThNiJEI'm going to ride this pony until I'm done.
>>129061836Thats called steroids this aint possible natty
i hardly listen to the music i listened when i was a teenagerit has nothing to do with maturity i overplayed it so much i don't feel anything anymore
