How did homosexuality become so prominent in hip hop? When I was growing up that was a cardinal sin of the genre. Openly bashed, used frequently as an insult.

I can understand a Lil Nas X kind of hip hop Boy George where his whole shtick is being obnoxiously gay, but how can there be so many casual homosexuals like Tyler, Frank Ocean, etc. It's as casual as a gold chain.

My initial suspicions are that it was promoted and pushed by major studios execs, who generally have very strong and domineering contracts over hip hop artists. But that seems too easy of an answer. Feels incomplete.
