It's just beatles, dylan, and rolling stones but pretentious.
>>
I'd be okay with it being pretentious if it didn't also sound like garbage.

That's fair. I prefer Loaded.

bad critique.
whether you like it or not, it did revolutionize electric guitar music in a few significant ways: 1.) use of drone/abrasive electric viola, 2.) the slow, swirling build-up in heroin.

the actual valid criticism I think is it romanticized bad behavior (like heroin addiction) that likely would lead to emulation by the young people who were the major audience of electric guitar music.

>droning viola
Literally influenced 0 other bands or even songs, that's just a quirky choice in instrumentation since they certainly didn't invent drone notes (also the beatles literally did it earlier on tomorrow never knows)
>building up in heroin
Other rock songs did that, for example my generation by the who has a pretty significant build up in the outro both vocally and instrumentally

The banana depicted here is a Gros Michel (Big Mike), a Banana that is now effectively extinct due to fungus known as panama disease.
It used to be the general banana sold to the public up until the 1980's and had a stronger banana taste that banana flavored candy is based on.

When it could no longer be feasibly cultivated due to the disease (You need a sterile greenhouse to grow them today), they created a new hybrid known as the Cavendish, which is longer, more curved and doesn't get nearly as many black spots on the peel.

The Cavendish isn't as sweet and lacks a strong banana taste compared to the Gros Michel and if it wasn't for Panama disease it would have likely never even stood a chance sales wise.

What you are effectively looking at, is a relic of the past that can be enjoyed by no one today, much like The Velvet Underground in relation to Zoomers.

wow, weak, bro.

tnk is just a standard drone https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O58ouPdjgo0&list=RDO58ouPdjgo0&start_radio=1
not really similar at all to the abrasive, dissonant viola screech set against the drone in vif. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GiobySgFP2s&list=RDGiobySgFP2s&start_radio=1

and my gen is just a pretty standard end of song freak out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MgJ9K7cPRKk&list=RDMgJ9K7cPRKk&start_radio=1

not at all similar to how the swirling (tempo, abrasive dissonance) works in "heroin" and is integral to the song itself, not just a crashing way to end song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2f_Md22IIj0&list=RD2f_Md22IIj0&start_radio=1

try harder and come up with something that at least throws into question the apparent innovation of vu.

You have to listen to it at the car wash to truly understand it
