For a fender style guitar, all the pickups and controls should be on the pickguard or a control plate.
>>
How do you guys feel about those guitars without a pickguard or back cavities and instead install the electronics through the jack hole?

Chambered, only the original ones from like the first year of production were solid and maybe some MIJ reissues from the 80s. It’s heavier a normal Tele but isn’t like super heavy. It’s got ‘64 grey bottom pickups in it and the other one has ‘63 CS pickups in it iirc. The rosewood one is definitely brighter and more trebly, not in a bad way but it’s noticeable. I have to adjust treble on my amp when swapping between the two because on the non rosewood one the treble usually rides around 7 or 8 but on the rosewood one it’s too bright at that. I love them both but the regular one gets more play time, I like how it sounds more and it has an absolutely perfect feeling neck

So I'm very new to guitar and while I'm finding lots of videos on how to frot my guitar, I'm not really seeing much on how to actually move my picking hand. They all pretty much just stop at how to hold the pick in your fingers. Can someone point me in the right direction? I plan to get a teacher in a few weeks once I'm settled into my new job.

I'd never ordered a guitar before online and was surprised to see a warning about not opening the box for a day. It's winter here with temperatures below freezing at night, so it made sense for me to wait especially with experience gigging in summer months (air con) and winter months.

If you search online, people think it's a conspiracy but then reading closer you find out they're clueless people in climates without extremes and can't comprehend that wood and finishes expand at different rates.
I opened the inner box up today and was met with a chill on my face still so I let that warm up for a few hours and everything is fine now.
>>
>>129062671
If your guitar has a nitro finish it absolutely can crack with sudden temperature shifts, if it has a poly finish you’re fine.
>>
>>129062629

It's also that there's so little of an actual codeified system for learning non-classical guitar. I don't know if the electric guitar is old enough as an instrument to have an actual system to learning it the way one would violin, tuba, trumpet, or saxophone.

Is production talk specifically for guitars (mixing techniques, VST's, Amp sims etc.) accepted here, or is that more of a /prod/ thing? /prod/ is shit and dead and hardly anyone there posts guitar related stuff, but this thread also seems more geared towards snobs cooming and arguing over the looks and price of guitars instead of playing them. Late 70s/early 80s post punk/new wave like Television, the Police, more guitar oriented “Fear of Music” era Talking Heads
“Alternative” like the Replacements, Pixies, Husker Du, Built to Spill
Folk rock stuff like the Band, Rolling Thunder Revue era Dylan; my current band has one of my main guitar buddies playing violin (his main instrument, guitar is just a hobby) and I’m playing a lot of Robbie Robertson inspired guitar stuff
Funk guitar is a big part of what I like to play but I don’t really play any real funk style of music with people, I just like to incorporate the funk guitar that I love

A little bit, honestly. There's just nothing else in that price range that appeals to me in both the price and specs. I do need a new guitar and all the cash I've saved up is admittedly pushing that a little too so I'm going down the line of least resistance. I don't think I'll be unhappy with it if it comes in good shape so it'd be money well spent in any case. I'm still thinking it through though, maybe something else catches my eye in the coming days.

When I was younger, maybe junior high, I got roped into watching my 3 month old niece while my sister got her hair done. So there I am, sitting in the waiting area of a hair salon with my niece, and who walks in but Tosin Albasi?

I was nervous as fuck, and just kept looking at him as he read a magazine and waited, but didn't know what to say. Pretty soon though my niece started crying, and I'm trying to quiet her down because I didn't want her to bother Tosin, but she just wouldn't stop. Pretty soon he gets up and walks over. He started running his hands through her hair and asking what was wrong. I replied that she was probably hungry or something. So, Tosin put down his magazine, picked up my niece and lifted his shirt. He breast fed her right there in the middle of a hair salon. Chill guy, really nice about it.

see if it’s part of a scale. if it’s very brief it’s likely a chromatic passing note into the next chord tone or scalar interval. play whatever is easier and makes the most sense because that’s what the person who wrote it did
also just picked up an electric after playing acoustic. barre chords are so much easier on electric

Then play bass. I was going to tell you that it shouldn't be difficult to explain to her why it would be better for you to learn any instrument aside from drums, especially drums because you literally wouldn't be able to play together with a single drumset, but fuck it. You don't explain with women, you lead and they follow. Tell you you're going to play bass instead and that's final, and she'll realize you're right when you can actually jam WITH her instead of taking turns on a single drumset.
