What do we think of David Bowie's final album ''Blackstar''?
>>129064146He has better albums but this is still very good. I like it.

>>129064146an absolute masterpiece
I'M A BLACKSTAR WAY UP ON MONEY I GOT GAME
>>129064146On my top 8 albums by him, was very innovative, title track and I can't give everything away are amazing, but the real jewel on that album is Tis Pity She Was a Whore, the only song I still listen frequently.
>>129064146Best album in the last 10 years. It seems like Bowie made his best albums when he was in his worst places or didn't care about commercial performance

Who the fuck makes an album when they’re dying from illness?
>>129065094I like the 2014 version
F, used to worship Bowie in middle school/high school but I don’t listen to him or care for him anymore. Can’t believe it’s been 10 years now. I cried when they announced his death on the radio

He said he couldn't give everything away, but he did bros...
>>129065161>he didn’t make an album called ready to die, actually die, then posthumously release an album called life after deathAre you even trying?
Listened to it recently and it sounded pretty dull to me this time. It sounds very robotic and the instruments feel really isolated. His vocals were good and the saxophonist is awesome but I feel like the vacuous production and straight forward performances besides the sax and vocals make the album feel pretty dull. Girl Loves Me and Dollar Days are particularly filler on an album with 7 songs it kills what momentum it had after the very Scott Walker inspired Sue which I enjoy. I like Bowie's vocal performance on I Can't Give Everything Away but god the music sounds like corporate hold music with the tacky drums and cheap synth strings. He's Bowie, he couldn't get some real string players on that song? It could have been an emotional closer but I can't stand the music, which hurts worse given how super repetitive the song is. Yes I'm aware the harmonica is a call back to A New Career In A New Town which is similarly repetitive but way more engaging sonically. Bottom line is the first 4 songs are pretty good despite the dull production and musical performances and the next 3 really wear on my patience, so I guess it's a 6/10 for me? I'm not a diehard Bowie fan but I think his first 14 albums are pure genius (minus the first one of course), and I respect a dying man making the album he wanted to make but it's not all for me.
>>129064146his magnum opus. loved it in '16. love it now. he KNEW he had one last album left in him. he left it all in the ring.
>>129066851Now that's a man with a plan
