is there any good reason for someone who plays a real instrument (drums, bass, guitar, etc.) to go dawless over daw?
>>129074684No. The only good reason to go DAWless is if you're poor and somebody gave you an MPC for free or if you're a pedophile and you're not allowed near computers. That said, don't rely exclusively on a DAW either. Laptop + midi controller is not enough. You need instruments that don't rely on your computer. You already play acoustic instruments, so, you're already halfway there.
Ive gone both routes, and there are a few reasons, but none are 'good', just subjective:-youre one of those 'analog only' spergs-you love limitations-track limitations help keep bloat down and you think about arrarngements different -punching in can be a pain in the dick so it keeps you on your fucking game performance wise-it reduces you fucking with every single thing after since you might have to go through external effects-if youre using something like a 4 track and you are constantly bouncing shit to one track to give you more tracks it makes you commit to shit since you cant mix afterwards. This also means if youre doing stereo you have to think about its panning earlyIts fun and more people should do it early since it gives you a different set of skills, but unless I wanted something more spontaneous or to 'go back to basics' I dont think Id ever do another DAWless record.
