Bass is overtaking the electric guitar in popularity and relevance for young people, from what I'm seeing at the local music store and my internet feed. younger people I talk to about music are playing/want to learn acoustic guitar or electric bass.If this is a real trend, what caused it?

I can play guitar, but the bass in too important to trust to someone else. Ive played with a bunch of failed guitarists who thing they can play the bass, its shameful. Id rather just let them sloppily play rythm guitar.
i love bass and I'm melodically very talented with it in ways my other bass playing friends never reached but when it comes to playing with my fingers I'm like Paul McCartney, I prefer a pick and I slap like a total amateur, practically makes me blacklisted if I was to audition for bands, I'm like that with drums too, very talented in many ways but I don't do dual bass pedals and my stamina isn't amazing so basically no metal or punk but I can groove like a mothafucka and slide in those offbeats wherever

Up to a 32nd note in either direction (unless you're playing seriously largo) is just enough slop to avoid being sloppy - where it's not a miss, it's a "choice".
