Just listened to this again after over 10 years. Still holds up.
It made me wonder, what other good indie/pop/rock albums pretty much forgo A-B-A song structure? No Prog stuff since I know it's pretty common there.

It's an album that's way better than it has any right to be. Weird lo-fi silliness held together by unbelievable amounts of charm. It's too bad they couldn't keep it together. Some friends of mine saw them on tour and reported afterward the band had been angry and fighting with each other on stage. They split up not too long after. Shame, since Islands were not terrible, but dull by comparison.
Anyway, if you like The Unicorns, you might like The Moldy Peaches.

Nick Diamonds came back for Islands, and Return to the Sea was a very fun album. But I'd still love another Unicorns album.
Will check out The Moldy Peaches.
