I wish we could bring John Lennon back to life just so we could shoot him one more time

And they're both faggots
>>
Imagine if he tried that Stay In Bed shit nowadays.
Motherfuckers would be clowning him for "bedrotting for justice".
There's no way he wasn't ridiculed for this shit back then.

He received his fair share of criticism from others in the entertainment industry, such as from Steely Dan through their famous "Only a Fool Would Say That" song, where they mock John for being out of touch with reality and preaching to the common man from up in his ivory tower. It's a good song, and a worthy critique. A few journalists and news outlets also critiqued him and wondered if he was intentionally alienating himself from his fanbase but, to me, the most interesting criticism comes from Gloria Emerson, a New York Times war correspondent who willingly requested to be transferred to Saigon in 1970 so she could report on Vietnam from the ground; she also reported on The Troubles from the London branch of the NYT a few years prior, so she was a respected voice on the topic of war and conflict. In a 1969 interview, she famously accused John and Yoko of using their tour for peace as more of a parade for themselves, and pointedly asked John if his goal was to advertise peace or advertise John Lennon. It's an interesting interview, and a reminder that not everyone was on his side at the time despite the near-martyrfication he's received for his activism since his death. https://youtu.be/QqfKGkrU8FU
