It was kind of Get Back before Get Back, with the band indulging in the sounds and tipping their hats to the artists that influenced them more overtly than ever before, from 1950s rockabilly and r&b to 1960s Bakersfield country and Dylanesque folk. I also absolutely love George's guitar work on the album.

All of the Carl Perkins songs were obscure deep cuts that only hardcore rockabilly fans would’ve known at that time. Everybody’s Trying to Be My Baby is a perfect little wink and nod to how burnt out the band was by their own celebrity.
