Why was it so poorly-received?
>>
Cynical attempt at proving they can hang with nu-metal bands
>>
Didn't listen to it but the black album made their die hard cider drinking thrash metal fans sad. Hence their difficult period afterwards.
>>
well the snare sound is generally awful and doesn't sound purposeful

>>
Its an Art Rock album.
>>
>terrible songs
>terrible snare

ROBERT'S GAY
LARS IS GAY
BUT THE GAYEST IS A-JAAAAAMMMEEEESSSSSAAH

"filtered"

The snare was the whipping boy that people latched onto but the whole thing is just sort of poorly written, overlong, and boring.

>>129100485
it's more of a Bob Rock album actually
>>
>tfw St. Anger was my first Metallica album and I loved it and the rest of the discog is dogshit in comparison
