I like him but I disagree with him most of the time lol. I think he has a valuable voice in metal because he represents a kind of old school death metal purist, and it's good to know how that sort of person sees things. That said, I used to have more respect because I thought he was in his 50s, and I thought he was an OG. Then I found out he's actually just an incredibly ugly 30-something, so his death metal purist perspective isn't any more insightful than any other 30 year old metal fan's.

Death Metal and Thrash-influenced Black Metal are more American than copying what the Norwegians do. Virtually every other country had their own take on Black Metal that's distinctive to that region, America probably being the most diverse.
