I just remembered they existed and that I like them. Re-listening to them now, and Radiator is definitely my favorite. Anyone else care enough to talk about them or share favorites?

Definitely my favorite Welsh band, better than Manics
That album is a classic but Rings around the World is my favorite
I have seen people compare them to Flaming Lips but with a bit of power pop

YOU KNOW THEY DON'T GIVE A FUCK ABOUT ANYBODY ELSE

>last proper album was in 2009

love them, I don't think they ever made a bad album but I kind of check out after Phantom Power, saw them play a bunch of times during their peak, I think Radiator is objectively their strongest but over the years I found myself listening to Mwng more than any, not knowing the language makes it more abstract, dreamy and emotional, never get sick of hearing it.
I like some of Gruff's solo stuff, moreso the stuff of just him solo with guitar without all the wacky adornments

Oh yes the album they did in Welsh was pretty cool

I’ve been infatuated with their material for several years now. I’m very ecstatic that they’re back as are the Beta Band.
Do any of you have a favorite track by them? Mine is White Socks/Flip Flops as of right now.

I really like this album cover

radiator was one of the comfiest album finds ever, must have been 2002. it's far superior to anything else they ever did. mwng is probably their second best, most of the others seem forced in some way. the one with the alien on the cover has a handful of fucking incredible songs and a bunch of mediocre ones, so surprising coming after radiator, but for a long time people seemed to prefer that one, which i never understood. radiator to me is maybe the single-best attempt to emulate the extremely catchy, varied, carefree 60s ideal. it seems like they were young and had energy and more than one guy in the band who could write really good melodies. they have instrumental hooks, not just vocal ones

Great band. I saw them live about eight or ten times.

For me it's:
>TABLE TENNIS RUUUULES
THEY'RE SO CONFUSING IT'S NOT PLAYED BY FOOOOLS
All their albums apart from the last two are at great. Radiator, Mwng and Rings are their best. Out Spaced is pretty fun as well (compilation of non-album singles and b sides.

Always baffles me that they sampled this instead of just singing it. Cost them a fortune but I suppose it shows integrity.
