I remember when This Is Happening used to get posted here pretty much every day and I never understood the hype. I thought they were decent but nothing really special, and I'm usually a sucker for 2000s indie dance punk shit.
And obviously the only reason they're considered cringe today is because they're old and look like dads, and also because their lyrics don't contain enough meta irony for the faggy new generation

I saw them live on their last tour (their first last tour) and they were mid. My dumbass friend who liked the Shins and the National brought me to see them. I think those three bands are pretty good examples of the kind of indie that appealed to the most fucking boring people alive.

i saw them at t in the park in the slam tent when they came on stage and soundchecked over miss kitten who was djing. it was pretty rude and you don't get a soundcheck at 4pm in a dance tent at a festival.
at that point i considered them all fags and cunts.

It feels like almost all those Pitchfork and Stereogum approved indie bands from 2004-2012 are considered lame these days. Their reputation has gotten so bad they get lumped in with all the British landfill indie bands by zoomers who weren't around back then. I read the article just now and it has some good points about LCD Soundsystem. More so than even Deerhunter or Dirty Projectors they're a relic of their time that nowadays only appeals to aging millennials with disposable income. Also it doesn't help that their reunion album was poor.
