What happened to metalcore? since like 08, it's gone to shit. some of you probably think it was always shit, but you can't deny it was more tolerable in late 90's to mid 00's than whatever garbage the obama era spawned. Also, recommend me newer osmc style bands.

It really went to shit after BMTH's Sempiternal and Architects' LTLF dropped. Those albums pretty much made the melocore sound obsolete in the blink of an eye, and the shiny, new djent sound became the normal for both the new and the old generation of bands that came after them, which in hindsight, was a massive mistake. I say that as someone who thinks both BMTH's album and Architects' one were landmarks of the genre.
As for newer bands, I think Knocked Loose are unironically titans of the genre, but if you don't like them, shit like Sunami or Fleshwater could be up your speed. Fleshwater is alt metal / hardcore hybrid, but I think they're excellent anyway.

I just can't get into any metalcore other than KSE. No other band I've heard riffs as hard as they do, is as heavy and has a singer equal to jesse or howard. For me metalcore starts with AOJB and dies with Daylight Dies. Too bad their next albums aren't as good. I realize I may be a pleb but I'm okay with that.
>>
ironic you post KSE asking where metalcore went bad when melodic metalcore is exactly what made the genre start to stuck in the first place

I'd argue the uk fags killed the genre

>Those albums pretty much made the melocore sound obsolete in the blink of an eye, and the shiny, new djent sound became the normal
i agree, but for me the problem is less the djenty riffs than the type of vocals they popularized. that pitched scream/high singing thing is so fucking obnoxious and every band does it now.

Any metalcore thread that doesn’t mention All Out War in the first 10 posts of off to a bad start so here I am saving this shitty thread.

That genre is a dead end.
>>
>>129164116
This. A dilution of an already drain-circling genre (melodeath).

>anti melodeath fag also hates metalcore
Shocking
>>
>>129169533
I love what melodeath can be, true death metal or not, but a lot of it is stale. I've come around to liking some metalcore also, but not melodic metalcore stuff.

Classic.
>metal used to be good before glam metal, black metal, and death metal ruined it in the 80s
>metal used to be good before groove metal and nu metal ruined it in the 90s
>metal used to be good before all these gay emo metalcore and deathcore bands with their skinny jeans and gay vocals ruined it in the 00s
>metal used to be good before djent bands just spamming 0s ruined it in the 10s
No singular band or trend ruins metal. You can listen to entombed, cannibal corpse, gorguts, incantation, sodom, or as I lay dying all you want. If you want to live like it is 1985 and metallica just released ride the lightning yesterday then you can choose to not listen to anything modern. Modern metalcore took a lot of influence from djent so instead of metalcore being influenced by melodic death metal it was influenced by messugah and alt metal which is why stuff like bad omens or bring me the horizon sound less like hatebreed meets slaughter of the soul and more like meteora meets all that remains meets messugah

If this is metalcore, then you have to consider Exodus metalcore.

>metal used to be good before glam metal, black metal, and death metal ruined it in the 80s
I doubt that that was the sentiment back then, maybe for glam.

Metalcore fans are stuck in arrested development. Whatever they heard at the most angsty/hormonal point in their life is what "true ____core is." Absolute faggot mentality.

You like (this iteration of thing) more because you were a dumb faggot kid at the time. Then you grew into an adult, and these obviously childish and sophomoric riffs and lyrics no longer speak to you as much. Nothing about the genre changed drastically, you just aged and think what you listened to in your youth is peak.

>Nothing about the genre changed drastically,
very obviously not true.
>>
>>129170511
Maybe it wasn't but it is melodramatic to suggest that metal as a whole is ruined and will stop existing as a form of music because a few bands are popular right now and they're doing something different or accessible and embraced by the mainstream. The said the same thing about nu metal. It isn't real metal or metal as a whole is ruined
>>
>>129169740
they have wildly different drum patters and all out war has tons of breakdowns so I really don't see the comparison
>>
>>129163430
It's easy to complain about "octanecore" cause it's cheesy arena rock with dated EDM production but 15-20 years ago you had the likes of BMTH and Asking Alexandria making hair metal for millennials. It's a genre where even when there's bands making good stuff (Converge, The Chariot and TDEP back then. Knocked Loose, The Callous Daoboys and Loathe today) its credibility is one or two steps above electro swing and nerdcore hip-hop.
>>
>>129169491
I saw then in Chicago maybe 2 or 3 days before they changed their name to I Promised the World. They were called Sinema back then, but I guess another band already had that name first.
>>
>>129163430
I could only get into metalcore thorugh nu metal, so when it comes to newer stuff, I mostly listen to Tallah

I legitimately enjoy deadguy's fixation on a coworker, hatebreed's satisfaction is the death of desire, and attack attack's someday came suddenly. I am gay?
