The SotS formula shortly was copied ad nauseam by later melodeath and metalcore acts because it was inherently simpler and more broadly appealing.

It's a bit of a cult classic imo, kinda like Swansong, which also has a pretty distinctive sound which is pretty much unexplored to this day.
