Any fans of Black Flag on tonight? The famous 80s punk band. Of course, I think most of their crowd favorites were the angsty ones. Everyone's them, in order.Nervous BreakdownJealous AgainDamagedMy WarAnd then, a little popular, we haveFamily ManLoose NutSlip It InI think all of these are popular because of the front person, the singer, the star of the show, Henry Rollins. That ole irish/jewish bastard, he pretended to be a liberal but was from a military intelligence family. He broke character by supporting the troops, but it was for a higher cause that left vs right. To me though, their most interesting work, was when he took a break. The Process of Weeding Out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_BqufJhHYAAllegedly written to actually isolate their fanbase. They wanted to challenge the entire status quo... of punk rock... with a bit of an experimental mess, lots of noisy guitars and cacophony, always maintain a consistent rhythm reminiscent of the genre, but with a new edge. They left behind the frontman, and simply jammed. Of course, Henry was still a marketable figure for the band, but the band leader simply wanted to show his moves in this record. It's defiently my favorite by them. Whats your favorite piece by them?(Please no one say the new shit, its too soon)
>>129247250worst punk band, misfits mog
>NB4 someone roasts me for accidentally forgetting the keith morris and etc arci mean yeah they were popular in magazines but they only had like one record each. my bad, i messed that up with a few typos as well. a little behind on sleep.
>>129247260Yeah misfits are badass ngl. I like alot of horror punk. I think its the showmanship. Danzig, or Graves? I prefer Danzig naturally but Graves had bangers.
>>129247266everyone prefers danzig cause he objectively is better
>>129247289https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wpuHOkPeGJ8yeah no doubt. he was kinda based honestly https://consequence.net/2025/03/glenn-danzig-nazi-symbol-merch-design/ graves had one seriously really good song though https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2qCdXE21og, and a drummer named Dr. Chud lmao
NETFLIX PARTY TONIGHT
I think Who's Got The 10&1/2? is the best Rollins record, that and The First 4 Years is all you need from them
>>129247250What the… isn’t so bad
I never liked My War, its so boring.
>>129252148the song my war is pretty sick though
>>129247250>The Process of Weeding OutLet's weed this downhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7XdNCNt1hwE
Black Flag is better than ten megadeth threads
Nervous Breakdown mogs
>>129248503Does Greg have them change his diapers on tour
>>129247250My War is objectively their best album especially for the B-side. The fact it pissed so many hardcore kids off and paved the way for bands like Tad and The Melvins is worth the price of entry alone.
>>129254824Oh boy thanks Black Flag, for giving us Tad
>>129255062lmao
>>129247250>tard wants to talk about how Black Flag are the bestest punk band ever>poser shows up wanting to ship the Misfitsthe sad state of the US scene for like 35 years now
>>129247250I prefer Circle Jerks first album
>>129255652When In Rome by the Vandals here
>>129255670lol the vandals suck
BEAT MY HEAD AGAINST THE WALL
>>129247250GG mogged these poser fags
>>129247250Only good thing they ever did was Side 2 of My War, now that's some good shit. 1 minute tongue in cheek punk songs in which they satirically singing about Beer and TV is not for me.
>>129247250I don't care who did it first. Black flag are a c tier punk band personally. Plenty other bands i'd rather listen to before listening to black flag. Liking black flag is like liking Kendrick or tupac for rap or metallica for thrash. It is a little on the nose
>>129258536>1 minute tongue in cheek punk songs in which they satirically singing about Beer and TV is not for me.“Satirically”? Or prophetically… take a break from doomscrolling and look around at the fucking state of Lardassmerica (once your SSRI’s wear off.)Also there’s nothing “1 minute” or “tongue in cheek” about anything on DAMAGED… these guys were fucking living it every day; these were real songs that bad been woodshedded for years by that point, the level of craftsmanship had never even been close to approached circa ‘81.
>>129258810>Liking black flag is like liking Kendrick or tupac for rap or metallica for thrashbait used to be believable
>>129258334gg was more of a performance artist but yeah he is better
>>129259260You can like black flag. What I meant to say is if they're your go to, then you must have discovered the genre a few days ago. They're as surface level as it gets. Like saying nirvana is your favorite grunge band. I dont give a shit if you love black flag but there are much better punk bands than black flag imo.
>>129261191I’ve loved hardcore punk for twenty five years and Black Flag is still my favorite. You don’t know shit
>>129261191>They're as surface level as it gets. Not if I've been listening to them since the '80s.
>>129261191>much betterName five
Greg Ginn is unfortunately one of the most influential guitar players of all time
>>129254767I want to change girl's diapers and dick her in the process
>>129261402I believe Joe Baiza was more influential.
>>129261759Not even close.
>>129261402It's strange, in spite of all the horror stories there are about the guy, I saw them 2 years ago and the guy was super nice. I had 2 conversations with the dude, the second I think was initiated by him. Maybe he's trying to change the narrative in his waning years.
>>129262606He’s a friend of some of my friends, by all accounts he’s a really nice guy. All the hate comes from people he used to play music with and people that were on SST that think they are owed money. And posers parroting what they’ve heard
>>129247250>The Process of Weeding Outi wish it was better. ginn is incredibly creative, but he needed a better band to work on that one. i think it being an EP hurts it a lot too, should've been at least 30-40 minutes.i think their last 3 albums go overlooked, which is pretty sad. ginn trying to make them more proggy and metal sounding actually is interesting to hear, even if the results vary.
>>129262606Had a similar impression of him. But like a lot of people he must change with people he works with. Where there's smoke there's fire.>>129262650I rate In My Head almost on par with Damaged.
>>129262650The Process of Weeding rhythm section was the best he ever had. He should’ve kept them for longer
>>129262718For the studio works, Kira and Bill were on 4 of 6 LPs, plus 2 EPs.
>>129262650listen to gone
>>129262849What 4? She’s only on Slip It In, Family Man and the Process of Weeding Out, and the live albums
>>129262887In My Head? Loose Nut?
>>129262887>She’s only onWrong.
>>129262907>>129263016My mistake, for some reason I thought it was Cel on those last two albums
>>129262863Thishttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bvlC3M33Yss
>>129261401Millions of dead cops Discharge Minor threat Cro mags Bad religion Husker du Circle jerks Poison idea Just personal opinion >>129261287You can like black flag. Some bands represent their genre because nobody does it as good as them and others just represent the genre because they are the archetypal sound, look, and style. Black flag fit the latter.
>>129255592Only midwits hate Misfits
>>129264719Just admit you are a gatekeeping poser. None of those bands hold a candle to Black Flag
>>129247250sure! black flag is a great punk band. however, im of the opinion that henry rollins era black flag was the absolute worst, and he’s the worst vocalist or frontman they ever had. keith morris was the best sounding, reyes and dez were also good. but yeah, i dont really listen to them at all outside of their earliest years. ive listened to all the rollins era stuff to see if there was anything good, but found nothing. well, with the exception of tv party. TV party is okay.favorite songs? six pack, no values, you’ve bet i got something personal against you, police story, im not a machine, i’ve had it.
>>129265024Not liking the most ubiquitous hardcore punk band doesn't mean gatekeeping. If pantera isn't your favorite groove metal band or the beach boys aren't your favorite surf rock band that doesn't mean you're gatekeeping. Most popular doesn't always mean the best. Black flag aren't the best hardcore punk band to me just because they are the most popular or ubiquitous
did we ever find out what happened in that lawsuit greg ginn's stripper ex-wife filed against him for custody after all that shit they said about him perving on his daughters and making them live in a dirty house with 20 cats whom he'd never clean up after
>>129266522they scrubbed the cats and she dropped the suit
I think he’s based for touring with a younger version of black flag
>>129271957But I also think Henry is based for being as cringe as he was. And he shouldn’t be hard on himself about it.
>>129266522He wasn’t accused of perving on his daughters, he was accused of having a dangerous place to live and playing guitar loudly for 13 hours a day
>>129247250Gregg + Henry = Black FlagAnything else: not Black Flag
>>129247250Damaged and My War were influential but boring to listen to now. Slip It In and Loose But are their best albums, or for the early era just listen to Wasted and Don't Care 3x in a row each
>>129248503>TIK TOK PARTY TONIGHT
