Is sepultura still nu-metal on the "Against" album? It's quite different than roots. Riffs are less 'bouncy'.

>Like most metal genres there's tons of other bands just below the mainstream surface that are as good if not better than the most popular ones.
Even some of the mainstream bands have pretty good material. Limp Bizkit, for instance, probably doesn't deserve all the hate.

I suspect people just try to dismiss it all as poser or trash because its popular. That's as foolish as dismissing a song just because it's obscure. I also think the "nu-metal" isn't real metal folks are sometimes full of shit.
>>
>>129271446
>I also think the "nu-metal" isn't real metal folks are sometimes full of shit.
Here's an example:
Something I've heard is that nu-Metal isn't descended/influenced from metal.
That doesn't make that much sense to me, because a lot of the major bands have blatantly metal riffs or cite more traditional metal bands as influences. Some major bands started off as more traditional metal before moving in a nu-metal direction.

Even leaving that aside, there's this thing called convergent evolution. You can sometimes have bands starting from totally different places who end up with similar ideas.

numetal is basically groovemetal with negrofied influences
usually in the form of angry wigger rapping lyrics instead of having metal aggression sung over a sense of melody
>>
>>129271404
they are weird because they are more of a thrash band (early albums were pure thrash) but the singer kind of does the rapping shit instead of singing
>>
>>129273095
>they are weird because they are more of a thrash band (early albums were pure thrash) but the singer kind of does the rapping shit instead of singing
The very first few albums apparently had death/black metal influences as well, but I haven't listened to them. But Beneath the Remains and Arise are definitely thrash.

But, I don't think you're entirely correct. I don't recall much thrashy stuff on Against or Roots. Maybe a little more on Chaos AD . BUT they have a few short songs on each of those albums with a kinda hardcore punk vibe (Like "Biotech is Godzilla", "Dictatorshit", "Against", and "Drowned Out").

Id say both Derrick Green and Max Cavalera as basically just shouting for the most part (outside of a few songs where they sing). It's not really rapping. and the lyrics were usually pretty simple.

Live At Jerry's Pizza by Juice, 1999.

https://youtu.be/0YqBRFfouzw?list=RD0YqBRFfouzw

The vocalist often can't seem to decide whether he wants to sound like Johnathan Davis or Chino Moreno, depending on his mood, although I will say this, he delivers a raw performance here that is in my opinion really fucking good, especially that scream he does on the song "Under".

Some nice Nu-metal bangers, like practically every nu-metal band during this time they were trying to sound a lot like Korn, so you know, if you like Korn but with a little more "brootal" vocals, give them a listen.

They only released one single which contains 5 songs, honestly not too bad, even if at some points the songs do seem a little monotonous at times, especially during the clean vocals, regardless, they have some pretty good tunes.

For starters, they're a French band. Now that that's out of the way, let me just tell you right now, these guys go hard, don't believe me? Just listen to the song included in that link up there, trust me, you won't regret it. Another good album by them is "Episode 2: Medicine Cake" which features a much cooler album cover, but Alphabet Prison is in my opinion, the superior album.

This album has a cult following among the nu-metal fans and for good reason, it's legitimately one of the best nu-metal albums ever released, maybe I'm exaggerating since it's one of my favorite nu-metal albums, but trust me, it's great. Raw, dark, and depressing, are the words that come to mind, don't care how cringe you think that is, it's the truth.

Lnkin Park's Meteora and Hybrid Theory is unironically the peak of Nu-Metal. Doesn't get better than that.

Limp Biscuit is just for enthusiasts that want to hear more. But in terms of melody, catchiness and coolness nothing surpasses those 2 albums of Linkin Park.

Gonna elaborate a little bit. I'm not sure if it's outright nu-metal or not, but the blatantly Korn inspired bits made me feel like it would be interesting to posters here.

If you are familiar with Judas Priest's usual sound this might seem odd to you, because of how different it is. And Judas Priest was probably older than most people playing nu-metal at that time, since they were formed in 1969. You might be wondering why they would chase a new trend, but that worked out very well for them when they did it with the Painkiller album. That's regarded as one of the greatest metal albums ever.
I suspect part of the reason that people look unfavorably upon this Album and Jugulator, us because they had a different singer for these 2 albums, rather than rob halford.
