It’s hard getting into pic-related for me because of how serious it takes itself. I love Modest Mouse, The Lonesome Crowded West, but this doesn’t work for me no matter how much I try. Maybe I need a certain irony or absurdity.Slint is didactic.
>>129265253i give it a maximum of exactly 2 stars with 4 spikes
>>129265253I used to think they looked so old in that photo. Now I just see a bunch of kids. Crazy
>>129265253I tried to get some friends into it in high school, one said he couldn't finish it because it was "scary", which he probably meant as serious like you. That's most of post-hardcore. It's grand. Try Tweez if you want something less serious from Slint.
>>129265253Its a cool unique experience. Im not sure what you mean by it takes itself to seriously but everytime I hear spiderland it takes me to another place and there really isnt another album quite like it
>>129265253You should watch the documentary Breadcrumb Trail if you have that impression. Because they were just creative kids having fun. Brian is more on the serious side, sure, but Britt is the ultra creative, borderline retarded kid that reigns it all in. The two compliment each other perfectly. Read the lyrics to Don Aman and tell me there's anything wrong whatsoever with it, it's so well written, it doesn't come across as angsty or self serious in the slightest. Britt wrote that himself.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GsRpS6XGiOs
