I-Rails - "One Day Older" (1989)
>alternative rock, pop rock
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bHTiNcrJCz0

as a songwriter i admire this band a lot. super well constructed track, the verses have a sort of Police / Rush vaguely reggae new wave thing going on, then the prechorus is more splashy, and the chorus is blissfully smooth. Wistful vocal harmonies, and the title of the song is the background vocals, not the lead vocals, what a neat little thing. The bridge is the emotional climax, and then you ride the final chorus into the sunset. in all it feels like if Replacements wrote an AOR song. which i guess is sort of what Goo Goo Dolls turned out to be, lol

was honestly just a lucky lastfm "similar artists" find. but the band changed their name in the 90s to Primitive Radio Gods and had a one hit wonder "Standing Outside a Broken Phone Booth with Money in My Hand" which is a bad band name and a bad song, oh well.

bonus,
for more of a replacements-like banger from them, try "There Goes Another One"

I found this song through Adam Curtis documentary, I really love his works, and this song was so perfect for the needle drops in his film. the melancholy hit just right. Every times I go outside for a walk and I have like an internal monologue within myself, I always listen to this song. it's beautiful, really.

Where does an oldhead get music from anyway? I want to start getting back into mp3s and FLACs.

I got into Frankie Lymon by randomly watching his biopic one day. Incredible singer and I love a lot of his songs. It's a good movie, too. Recommended.

Shout out to the anon on /mu/ who introduced me to this masterpiece. I was really into ASMR at the time, and this music was just perfect.
I remember reading a review from Pitchfork (I think) of this album, and they described it as “proto-ASMR,” and honestly, I feel like they were right to call it that.
It feels like something that was way ahead of its time. Super comfy, listening to this past midnight while you're battling insomnia and mindlessly doomscrolling through social media is just perfect.

Sundog - Across The Rift of Doubt
>prog/alt rock
I found this album in a shill thread a long time ago. They haven't posted here in over a year, so you can't accuse me of being one of them kek

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tbsgm14kTr8

Obviously, Moon is the standout track here, and it has the most plays on Soundcloud. I'd describe it as a beginner-friendly prog rock ballad, because it ends in the same place it started. I wish I could listen to it on repeat 'till I get sick of it, but I'm constantly finding out about and listening to new music every day, so instead, I reserve songs like these for special moments, for when it really does seem like they'll help me feel better.

Some anon recc'd me this in a chart thread a while ago.
Only the best of early 90's house. No bullshit. Loads of unforgettable moments in every mix.

>Into the deep from all the dizzying heights!
>House stompin'!
>It's not over, not over, not over, not over yet!
>VIRTUALMISMO... MISMOPLASTICO (PLASTICO PLASTICO PLASTICO)
>Gan- Gan- Gan- Gan-... (or whatever the fuck she's singing in Age Of Love Suite)

We'll never get anything like this again, because electronic music sounds lifeless and saturated as shit now.

Un Fiore Per Coltello, (a flower as/for a knife)

I found this song years ago but only really started enjoying it in spring of 2024. Yesterday was my 21st and I've been feeling lucky. I hope someone else likes this song, and definitely find a translation for the words.

Dean Torkington - The Bat Strikes Back

Meatloaf tribute artist records a album. Despite having the production value of a wigan kebab, it's almost good. He later got sued by Meatloaf and had to retire from his act because he lost too much weight.

wow i listened to them a ton in like 2010 when i was getting into the mathy stuff, i think tera melos was more my jam but i had a soft spot for G?G! since they were pretty local to me but i never did see them live. i didnt know they released this, i like the vocals, both their solo stuff had vocals so i always wondered why they didn't try to include any singing, aside from how technical the music already was. thanks for postin friend, will listen in full

>>129273506
yeah im a sucker for stuff like that lately, The Cars, etc. power pop i guess, feels like saturday morning cartoon optimism
