What are /mu/s thoughts on Jandek? I've listened to the first 10 albums and I honestly don't like it that much but I wanna keep listening to experience his different eras.

Pretty much a completely worthless artist whose sole appeal rests in his nonexistent public persona. The music is genuinely awful and adds nothing to your life, the lyrics aren't nearly as dark and depressing as faggots make them out to be and so all you're left with is this purposefully esoteric slop that barely qualifies as noise. I've seen some people claim that Jandek is meant to be seen as a sort of anti-music, a rejection of all ideas of form and established tradition, but that doesn't translate to the actual recordings. Anyone who claims to like this guy is not just pretentious they're an active detriment to any music scene they're a part of.
