Some of us were already familiar with his music. The bigger problem was that the movie wasn't trimmed down enough to be watchable. It was pretentious and up-its-own-ass about a shallow artist with a vanilla set of life problems. So a talented kid with a shitty father found success very young, squandered his fortune on drugs and luxury trappings, alienated the people who supported him and helped him on his way up, AND he punted his relationship with someone supportive who should have been the love of his life? Ah gee whiz, what a unique story that has never happened to anyone else ever before. Better make the film version 3 hours long to make sure we capture all the paint-by-numbers details. Pointless CGI will surely make this unique story even more interesting and watchable.
