>>129276662He's not a Jew. Maybe you were sleeping but three fantastic albums shout very loudly about his conversion to Christianity (he was also singing about Jesus since his debut album). Pic only semi-related.

>>129278634There's only one way in and there's no way out bucko.
>>129278749>moronic non-sequitur I don't mean to be rude but you seem cancerous, please return.
>>129278634Bob Dylan is likely a satanist. I say this as a fan of his work despite the likelihood. His Christian phase lasted a short period of time over 40 years ago.
>>129276662He only wrote a few decent songs. People think he's great because he became prominent in a time when people thought that writing songs meant that you were a genius. If any decent artist today were to travel back in time and start playing songs in the early 60's, they would be seen as a genius and people would have to lie and say they like him. I'm like the only person on this site who doesn't have a problem with Jews, but if I did, I wouldn't be giving him any kind of pass based off of his shitty music.
>>129275519When I was twenty two I listened to Blonde On Blonde and liked it, and I can not stress the amount of pride and satisfaction with myself that I felt upon enjoying it. This is a very important point that I really want to call attention to. I felt like a genius. I felt like I was so fucking deep and mature for finally liking a Bob Dylan album. I found a few other albums of his that I like (Blood On the Tracks, Oh Mercy, Time Out of Mind) and put them all on my phone (this was slightly before the streaming era.)Then I noticed something. Whenever I had my music library on shuffle on in the background, I would be loving everything that played except for when a Bob Dylan song came one. Mind you, I had what I considered to be his absolute best albums on my phone. But whenever his songs would come on, they all just sounded so shitty and crusty compared to everything else that was playing. All the other music I liked made even his best work sound like absolute shit. So I deleted everything by him from my phone and the problem was completely solved. Never got back into him again and I'm glad.
>>129278924Yeah, there was that bizarre interview where he talked about 'making a deal with someone' to achieve his success. The interviewer asked him who he made a deal with and he seemed to get genuinely nervous. He was basically sweating. I know he tries to be cool in all his interviews, but this did not come across that way at all. It seemed more like he talked himself into a corner and regretted it. It's also crazy that he actually believes in it, because I personally would feel no anxiety if I made a deal with a thing that doesn't exist so that the idiots who do believe in it would give me tons of fame and fortune, so he's a faggot for actually believing in the devil, not so much making the deal which he clearly made. I'd have made the deal too.
>>129278091>sometimes i think "what would bob dylan do" and its nicedude. i have this shitty dylan light i carry with me. i pull it out i look at it and he tells me what i gotta do. he tells me to eat and get my shit together sometimes. ive gotten laid thinking of what he'd do if he were me its weird and maybe faggy but it works for me.he used to look over every joint i lit but the rope burnt out and i wont have spare cash any time soon
>>129279032>I was a mature genius for liking him>I'm a mature genius for not liking him
>>129276662That would be Neil Diamond who could actually sing and didn't ramble about a bunch of gay horse shit like Bob.
>>129279661He's going to hell for Sweet Caroline alone.
>>129279682'fraid not. He's going to heaven for countless amounts of pure fucking kino
>I just watched the second half of Scorsese's Dylan documentary. Predictably, I found myself admiring Dylan only for the way he dealt with imbecilic journalists and the organo-folk nazis; I remain mystified about the appeal of his words and music. Admittedly I am the most prejudiced possible observer --- but I found it surprisingly easy to maintain a position of total hostility towards Dylan's oeuvre. Prejudice has been stoked up by Baby Boomer fucks like Bryan Appleyard (in the Sunday Times) drooling that Dylan is just about the greatest poet ever to walk the earth (with Oxford academic Christopher Ricks quoted as saying 'aren't we privileged to be living at the same time as Bob Dylan' for Chrissake). It's not only that I personally don't share the judgement (there are many esteemed artists I dislike but at least have some comprehension of their appeal to others); it's that I don't on any level understand it. What is supposed to be groundbreaking or interesting about Dylan's tuneless voice, frankly hideous harmonica dirges and pisspoor lyrics, which alternate between stoner doggerel and the stupefyingly inane (Bad Things are like gonna happen; hey, old folks, society's moving on y'know)? Dylan summarises everything that I so despise about the Sixties (bliss was it in that dawn NOT to be alive), it all just seems so ramshackle, so earthy, so earnest, so hairy, so unglamorous, so monochrome, so OLD...
>>129279626That's the opposite of the point I was making. Your comprehension skills are abysmal if you're being sincere. You're probably not being sincere and just felt the need to have some kind of retort when you didn't have one. To clarify, the entire point was that I got over the idiotic idea that you're a genius for liking boring, shitty, crusty music, and that the way I felt when I "got into Bob Dylan" gave me insight as to why people like him.
>>129275519The private equity firm he sold all his songs to says your welcome.

>>129278984>a few decent songsHe wrote many decent songs at his peak, and a few great ones that will live forever

The way Bob Dylan fans talk about Bob Dylan reminds me of the Shrek is love Shrek is life memes from ten years ago.
>>129283724i don't know why or when i started talking like this. i guess if you get super into him it kind of turns into almost a religious figure type thing even though that's not he wantspersonally im just a faggot and think he's cute
>>129283724>>129286002Some people talk about Dylan like he is responsible for stealing all the joy from their lives, while others worship him. Neither are examples of sane people.
