It's their best record and I'm tired of pretending it's not

What is it about this album specifically that is better, in your opinion, than the others and what is about the other albums that, in your opinion, isn't as good as this album?
>>
Great album. Let It Be and Tim better tho.

I prefer Tim or Sorry Ma. Tim is when they matured and grew into their sound. Sorry Ma is just good punk rock.

Alex Chilton alone makes it their best album

All shook down

Am I alone in associating Alex Chilton and other college rock bangers (like Miracle Legion's Paradise) with 80s weddings? Was that a common reference? Obviously there's Footloose although that's more new wave/dance-pop than college rock.

op was not a faggot for once

I associate that song with guitar hero. No disrespect, love the band, it just is what it is
>>
The Ledge is great, but I don't like that CHW was softened in sound and subject matter.
>>
I'm embarrassed that I used to worship this dogshit band

What do you listen to now?
I still like Sorry Ma. Sue me
>>
>>129277621
who would play some gay homage to an obscure rock singer at a wedding? that's odd.

It's Tim's Let It Bleed version. For me, the horns on Can't Hardly Wait make it sound too Memphis-y. It's best as a straight power pop song, like how they recorded it during the Tim sessions or as a somber acoustic banger like they did with the cello version.

Last year I read Trouble Boys, the Replacements book. Very good reading and it helped bring a lot of the records to life for me.

They’re not the worst thing in the world… STINK (KIDS WON’T FOLLOW + 7) and HOOTENANNY showed some real exuberance and were different enough from the rest of their ‘81-‘83 peers to garner some attention; I can still listen to that stuff and it gives me *something*…. but by PLEASED TO MEET ME, Paul had really begun to believe his own press clippings… plus the production just fucking blows and where’s Bob Stinson? It’s not even the same band. Pass.

Only heard this alb once but I have to agree
>>
Tim > Let it be > Pleased to meet me > Hootenanny > the rest

I don't care for their boring last two albums nor for hardcore punk they did at the start. Pleased to meet me has a few of their best songs, but more misses/filler than Tim and Let it be.

If Bob Stinson : Mats :: Chris Bell : Big Star, that makes this their Radio City.
