he killed hip hop by making it woke.

i miss covid era hip hop so much. there were so many good/classic records 2020-2022 and now it's just dead. Fuck this midget and his woke bullshit.
>>
>>129276182
he killed hip-hop for being an anti-fun and uninspirational nigger.

no one wants to be like him, he didn't left any seeds in culture, the type of music he makes is the opposite of what made rap mainstream, and he can't lead hip-hop to a new era because of that. Tupac would not like him.

I don't know if he killed Hip Hop but the guy always struck me as KRS-One for Millennials.
>>
>>129276182
It's not him being woke. It's that he is bland and uninteresting, his fans calling him a "genius" because he opens up a thesaurus sometimes and can enunciate big words well and knows what a metaphor is. He has not innovated the genre in any way. His voice is also terrible and he has no sense of rythm and has zero charisma when singing live. He is all hype and no substance unless you're a midwit that is easily impressed.

>i miss covid era hip hop so much.
Absolutely the funniest possble followup line this post could have had.
Yeah you miss the old classic era of hiphop before Kendrick killed it with woke....2020-2022. A three year interval barely 4 fucking years ago. Children are so fucking hilarious.

To Pimp A Butterfly released in 2015.

>he killed hip hop by making it woke.
Hiphop was always woke and not music
>>
>>129276212
The funny thing was that hip hop was a global phenomenon. In the 90s/2000s you had kids in eastern europe listening to 2pac and vibing with it despite probably never having seen a black person in their life. It was something universal.

Now, Kendrick "won" the Kendrick-Drake beef by saying because Drake is a lightskin Canadian, he is not allowed to make hip hop. Total purity-spiraling gatekeeping, so its no wonder nobody wants to listen to hip hop anymore.
>>
>>129276265
Don't get me wrong, there's plenty of great records from the 90s and 2000s.

But I brought up 2020-2022 to highlight how quickly Kendrick killed the genre, there were still GREAT records being released just 4 years ago and now there's... nothing.
>>
the Bad Bunny Superbowl performance will be the final nail in the coffin
>>
Is he even really that woke?
Seems like blaming the symptom not the problem. Rap would be in the same place today no matter what. If anything Kendrick was part of the best wave of hip hop. That late 00s Early 2010s experimental period, before it got lame.
>>
>>129276305
its not strictly the wokeness, its the "ONLY slave-descendant black americans are allowed to make hip hop" attitude that turns people off.

2pac made a lot of tracks that could be considered woke, but because he balanced it out with a pop and mainstream sensibility, it was part of hip hop being ascendant rather than exclusionary.
>>
>>129276274
I have an older uncle, in his late 50s/early 60s I think, that never listens to anything made by Americans as far as I knew. I was helping him with some shit around his house a few weeks ago and he was listening to 90s rap, which surprised the hell out of me. I asked about it and he basically told me those blacks used to make pretty good music back in the day, but not anymore. He doesn't like blacks thoughbeit and is wary of them.
>>
>>129276182
hip hop has sucked for a long time
he's only a big star to begin with because there is so little talent
>>
Did he kill hip hip or was it the 1000 retarded niggas making the most retarded incoherent piece of shit drill trap you've ever heard.

I'd even say if it wasn't for him it would have been dead 10-15 years ago.

His last albums sucked, I'll give you that.

>>129276372
my dad grew up in an Italian neighborhood of Boston in the 70s. the kids there all listened to soul and R&B and didn't much care for rock; he remembered one guy with a Rolling Stones shirt who got a bottle thrown at him. yet this was during the era of busing riots. everyone listened to black music, but nobody actually wanted to live with them.
>>
>>129276759
what killed HH was obviously Millenials
>>

tbf Kendrick didn't invent politically conscious rap. the coup, ratm, marxman, digable planets were doing similar stuff 15 years earlier
>>
>>129276182
Yeah I too miss Lil Pump, DaBaby, Lil Nas X, Jack Harlow, 6ix9ine, XXXTentacion, Juice Wrld... That's REAL hip hop, OP. None of that Kendrick crap.

lil peep, lil poo, lil pee, lil nig, lil wayne, lil meme, lil Cuck, lil sóy, lil goy, Tenkaichi 61, bladee and yung learn
>>
>>129277117
you dumb fuck, the point is that Kendrick did not inspire any rappers to create better music or to evolve the craft. his artistic impact on the new generation is none existent.
>>
>>129277017
wtf I love Lellenials now
>>
>>129276182
Kendrick Lamar is cringe garbage but
>there were so many good/classic records 2020-2022
no, retarded nigger, it was never good. fuck off back to Reddt
>>
>>129276182
>he killed hip hop by making it woke.
Hip hot was always woke. He killed it because he as an industry plant who "everyone" praised as some kind of genius, but his work was the same old shit as always and he had a bad attitude.
>>
>>129277117
All of them have a better voice than Kendrick.
>>
>>129276182
I know this is bait but Kendrick didn't kill rap, and he didn't introduce woke bullshit or political / social commentary to rap either. He was just the first notable one to do it in a way that was primarily aimed at white Millennial theater kids who get degrees in "african-american studies" which is why his music is either boring or just blatant pseud bullshit. He's fairly competent at writing and often works with good producers who can at least make his stuff sound nice at nice, but his obsession with being seen as some kind of intellectual thought leader among rappers (and really black Americans in general) is what makes his music, particularly TPAB and everything that's followed it, so awful.
>>
the “death” or decline of hip hop has been greatly exaggerated, mostly coming from drake fangirls. you’re upset because Kendrick killed your illusion of identifying with hip hop
>>
>>129276182
>there were so many good/classic records 2020-2022
2020 is post-kendrick. post TPAB. so thank Kendrick for the music you like so much
>>
>>129276262
Name a more influential rapper then
>>
>>129276290
Bad Bunny isn't even rap
>>
Not to get too far into looksmaxxing stuff, but he could have gotten away with all this had he looked like more of a chad. Instead, there was a lot of dissonance when the media and culture tried to force the message that a goofy little dwarf was actually some kind of sex symbol/cultural icon. It just didn't work. And I actually expect Bruno Mars to suffer the same fate over time, for the same reasons.
>>
>>129276182
This is prime bait
Masterful bait really. 10/10!
Hip Hop died when SoundCloud and mumble nonsense became mainstream in 2016
>>
>>129279964
In 2026? Bad Bunny, Drake, A$AP Rocky and SZA at the least.
