Do women really feel and explore music the same way men do? It seems women use music in a more extemporary and superficial way, no research, no desire in experiencing new forms, no deep passion about, mostly passive consuming.

>>129276741the music industry is entirely driven by female fans at this point and they were always more into music than men (Beatles, Elvis...etc)
>>129276813They always have been into the persona itself, not music. Women dream about the popstar and the rockstar but don't care about the music.
a story in two parts

No, most women get their taste from boyfriends or guys they like. I've literally shaped the music taste of at least 3 girls I've been with.
>>129276741Women do explore music and actually lurk /mu/. I'm not one but I seen some. Most women learn about music through peer pressure though. The ones that really like music do the internet exploration thing.
>>129277091>neutral milk hotel>death grips>ac/dc>deftones>some heavy metal band no one gives a shit aboutoh my god anon thank you. what would these women do without you??
>>129276741men do that too. except with non pop music. by that i mean listening to music just for the sake of seeming cool and different.

>>129277088Hope she reads this bro
>>129276741So do most men, probably at the same rate as women. The difference is that men think they're self-aware and that they're not doing it while actually doing it, while women are much less less self-aware hence not trying to be something they're not.

>>129277091True and the shirt they are wearing of the band you like was their ex's Also if women like a guy they will lie and say they like whatever music he likes

My theory is that most women are playlist listeners. They almost always want music that fits a certain 'vibe" or "mood" to fit their current state of mind or emotions. That's usually how they find new music, passively, through curated playlists. You can find some hidden gems on playlists, but it's still inferior to diving into a discographies or even just actively searching for new music. Plus 90% of these playlists are now created by algorithms that always favor big popular "safe" music.
the urge to explore, collect and complete is a predominantly male characteristic
