I watched the Fellowship of the Ring recently and I came away conflicted on the soundtrack. There are undeniably beautiful moments, but I despise how crude the use of leitmotif is. Themes are just kind of copy-pasted without any modification, which was a bit grating and unserious to my ears after listening to lots of classical music. I wish film music was better. Mogged by Wagner from the grave.
>>129281072The themes are recapitulated in the sequels with different orchestration according to scene.
>>129281072There is tons of bridging between motifs. You just aren't listening. Upon listening, the bridging turns out to be yet more subtle motifs. It's the most thematically complex soundtrack to ever have existed.
>>129281159 thats true but the music that plays over the short scene between faramir, boromir, and denethor after the recapture of osgiliath always botheres me bc its just the lotr theme just played a little fasteri >>129281072 i empathise with your take but this filmwork taken as a whole is i think what bears remembering, not its constituent parts
>>129281072 btw i hope youll someday enjoy the other movies, they have some stirring musical moments as well
>>129281615That's because it's deliberate bait. The op is a transgendered troll from the /classical/ general, fishing for some attention
>>129281828I love the movies.
>>129281072i also always felt that way about the leitmotifs, yeah, but they have some moments of intelligent usage in the later films
