For four cuts--the instrumental "The Bump", surrounded by "Wide Open", (which more than earns its reprise) "Slippery When Wet", and "I'm Ready", they make the case for their funk. I already believed but found the argument enjoyable at any rate. For the remainder of the album they make the case for their soul. I'd have been more inclined to believe if they hadn't bothered. B
