Even if they were a Nazi group, there are Jews in Godspeed the band, so they could have an abstract artistic reason for naming their band after them. The band, while instrumental, has a lot of esoteric messaging in their music that is always anti capitalist and anti fascist so you'd have to be pretty dense to think they are actually nazi adjacent thinking people. Furthermore, Joy Division are named after the literal rape part of concentration camps during the Holocaust. "Joy" as in the joy the nazis got from raping Jews that they kept in a special division because they were "attractive." That's a completely sickening part of history to attach to your music and yet no one gave a shit. And when their singer killed himself they decided to be extra cheeky and name themselves New Order as a pun on them starting over without Ian, and also a nod to the new order of the Third Reich. So there are more naughty examples of band names and imagery than anything you could accuse Godspeed of. Even their sister band Silver Mount Zion is supposedly just named after a water park in Canada, and has nothing to do with Zionism, according to Efrim who is very against Israel, their albums don't ship to Israel even. The point I'm making is that as artists they are entitled to make esoteric references to things even if they are maybe in bad taste.

>>129284541>Siouxsie is a CHUDbaZed
>>129284541It's arguable if it's purely nihilistic "nothing" because using Nazi imagery is obviously to get a response out of someone in an edgelord fashion. The only problem with employing the symbolism of one of the worst genocides in history is you run the risk of LOOKING like a NAZI. So I think it's a very misguided way of getting attention. It's basically to me just a way to get away with wearing Nazi shit and being like "wink wink I'm doing it to be edgy but actually I might be a Nazi wink wink." There's not really a good defense for it. At least with Joni Mitchell wearing black face over and over throughout her career she was honest about it and was like "yeah black face is OK I got away with it I'd do it again." Even if I don't agree with her behavior I prefer brazen idiocy to trying to hide behind edgy shock value instead of Siouxsie and others just being like "Yeah we are Nazis" would save a lot of people's time thinking about it. The guy from Christian Death and Premature Ejaculation, Rozz Williams, would sometimes perform while draped in a Nazi flag, that guy I think was just a true perverse personality who liked idolizing serial killers and so on, so I almost want to give him a pass because he was a true eccentric fag who almost certainly wasn't a Nazi and was more attracted to dark fucked up stuff and liked incorporating that into his performances.
