Given that twitter randos will dig up old tyler the creator lyrics every other month it's surprising that I can't recall any such instance with the Weeknd, the trilogy mixtapes cross the line from regular hip hop misogyny into straight up drugging and gangraping girls, but there were no mass deep dives at least as far as I can remember - honestly surprising he made it as far as he did but a killer voice will make the public overlook the more unsanitary content I suppose
Tyler puts himself in the position to be cancelled way more often than The Weeknd does. Every time his old tweets and lyrics het brought up it's always in response to him alienating/berating his majority white audience which he seems to have grown a noticeable disdain for in recent years. Abel by contrast seems to go out of his way to avoid online attention when he's not promoting his work.
>>129284198He's pretty unproblematic isn't he? I mean I never see headlines or anything about him besides his music, which isn't challenging or controversial either from what I've heard. He just seems like a typical theater kid nerd that made it big, would be surprised if he has any significant skeletons in his closet. Typically people don't care to bring someone down unless they're being annoying to the general population. Twitter stans are irrelevant and unable to cancel anyone.
>>129284478There are definitely songs off that early run of mixtapes that deal in controversial content, listen to Initiation and XO/The Host
>>129284437>Abel by contrast seems to go out of his way to avoid online attention when he's not promoting his workMost egregious example of this was after The Idol was shat on by pretty much everyone and he went full-on damage control replying to like 20 tweets a day
>>129284518Forgot about this lol. My bad
>>129284502Nah, I'll take your word for it. The point is that no one other than unemployed losers are going to take a look at his early mixtapes to "cancel" him, or particularly care about anything controversial in them.
>>129284198He's on a spot where The Weeknd is a character, when it really isn't much of it, like some stuff might be just him but there's a lot in his lyrics that sounds way too exaggerated. It's like that one kid in school that lied about having a PS3 when the PS2 just came out. Although, he continues to fuck up every time he tries to bring that character to any other media (the idol and that one movie for his last album), because everyone can tell that it's really exaggerated and he comes off as just fucking lame lol. When you also see his "liking" he's genuinely a fat fucking nerd, like his current Instagram is just him being a fucking weeb (I think also the nigga just genuinely has a yellow fever)
>>129284198The Weeknd should be cancelled for his directing skills.
>>129284198His music has always been so intrinsically rapey that any controversy is pointless
>>129284198He can just blame the drugs
>>129284198>how the fuck wasn't he cancelled?Because political correctness doesn't apply to niggers.
>>129284198Holy shitAt some point prostitution is going to be legalized nationwide in the US because a bunch of zoomers havent had their v card swiped at 45 because apparently partying with/banging hot chicks is 'rapey'You just wasted the best years of your lifeBetter luck next time
>>129285294Following that logic Tyler shouldn't get cancelled at all because his albums are always from the point of view of a different character
>how the fuck wasn't he cancelled?Stopped reading
