>>129287579i agree that the glorification of that is bad, but 1. police brutality & racial profiling is at such a stage that it actually creates more violence in these communities -- if you believe that's the solution we would at least have to ensure that policemen in these black communities are truly community members and not outsiders looking to control a group they don't see themselves as a part of. 2. much of gang culture is an outgrowth of drug dealing culture, and if drugs were legalized and FDA-regulated (sounds crazy i know, but 10 years ago it sounded crazy to do that for marijuana too), the young men pushed into that illegal industry would not be criminalized to the point of having to do it violently
