There are two types of people: People who think The Sex Pistols are better than The Clash, and fucking faggots
>>129292917Imagine liking the same music as my boomer PM
Being better the Clash is a low bar but I'm not sure the Sex Pistols cleared it.
>>129292937IS THIS THE PM OF CA
>>129292967Yes
>>129292951damn we got a real music historian here
>>129292917Guess which one is OP
>>129292917The Clash is fucking shit
>>129292917why listen to those two when you can enjoy the misfits
>>129292917I used to not like the sex pistols. Used to think they were inferior but I listened to them and they are punk rock. London calling is less punk and more experimental
>>129295517>experimentalHow is basic pop-rock and cod-raggae "experimental"?
>>129292917They were both shit. I'll grant you that at least SP weren't posh wankers larping as working class.
>>129292917Pistols felt genuine while them Clash bois was just popmusic in punkish feels. They have a few good songs tho, but nothing like NMTB. That album is still all bangers
>>129295529For punk standards in 1979 it was experimenting with the formula. It isn't straightforward punk like their debut. Obviously it isn't this heat or avant garde
>>129295634>For punk standardsBut this album isn't punk in any way, why would you apply those standards to it? It's not a mix of pop rock and punk, it's just pop rock.
>>129292917The Sex Pistols are mediocre and Public Image Ltd is a bore but I'll be damned if they are not better than the fucking cunts who wrote Should I Stay or Should I Go Now
>>129292937To be fair, this guy is fucking great.
>>129295647Their later stuff is more pop rock and fits that description. It is a post punk album but isnt a post punk album at the same time. They're going beyond punk while not a straight up post punk band or post punk album.
>>129292917Both are shitty just like all punk bands
>>129292917the sex pistols are fucking average at best, fag
The Clash branched out, like with Sandinista. Combat Rock has some bangers. Pistols did one album of punk. maybe if there wasn't such a media shitstorm they would have survived and tried other stuff and not just be a one album, one style band. At the end of the day, I like both and don't see it as an either/or situation.
>>129295457Indeed
Punk Rock was always distorted bubblegum (look at the earliest Dictators songs). The Clash just got rid of the distortion and went full Archies. With limey politics
