To clarify, audiophiles can't tell the difference when the banana/mud is short, shielded, and linking a low impedance output to a high impedance input. Not surprising because that's the least demanding scenario for a cable there is. Now try using an unshielded banana as a guitar cable (passive pickups, no buffer).
