>released album named Starless and Bible Black>album cover is not bible black>contains song Starless and Bible Black>song is instrumental>released album named Red>album cover is not red, it's actually bible black>contains song Starless >song contains lyrics "Starless and Bible Black"I hate Fripp so much bros
>>129345283>construKCtion of light>prozaKC blues>fraKCturedget it? because their initials are KCgood one, fripp you massive retard
>>129345283>>129345293based Peter Sinfield wouldn't have let shit like this happenwhich is why King Crimson has only existed up until Islandseverything after it was a cover band under the same name
>>129345283Fripp is a talentless hack. But you gotta give him credit for surrounding himself with geniuses.>Giles, MacDonald >Wetton, Bruford >Levin, Belew>Gabriel, Eno
Court > Islands > Red > Discipline > Larks > Lizard > Three > Starless > Poseidon > Beat
>>129345124I remember when I was a young kid I was in a big KC phase of my life, one day I came across an anime titled "Bible Black" I thought it must be alright if it made a reference to King Crimson. Turns out it was tranny rape hentai.
>>129345124>Starless>Bible Black>DisciplineHow does Fripp feel about having 3 hentai named after his albums?
>>129345415that's the only thing I give him credit forMcDonald, Giles and Sinfield made such an incredible work on the debut, that KC became a household name, and fripp was able to surf on that success for decades, even though he wasn't responsible for ittalk about being at the right place at the right time
>be a manlet talentless autistic ugly chud in a group of chads>make it big because of their creativity and talent>they can't stand being around you, so they leave you after one great debut>you spend the rest of your career hiring and firing talented people to relive that moment>including hamming up every great song with your incessant chromatic noodling, and shoving aimless "improvised" crap in otherwise solid albums>nothing you do will ever be that great again>out of sheer luck, you manage to put together another great crew in the 70s>when you reach your peak as a live act and with studio recordings, you freak out and decide to disband>try it again in the 80s, but sound like a Talking Heads ripoff>try it again in the 90s, but sound like generic heavy prog>never face the fact that you're an absolute fraud who could have made it even bigger if you weren't such a twat all along those years
>>129346529Trvke
I love how /mu/ has finally opened their eyes to how much of an overrated fraud fripp is
God I forgot how good this album is, Fallen Angel makes me cry. I like Fripp's guitaring in that song and in Starless, I don't care what you faggots say
>>129346652>even doe it's one guy forcing his shitty meme
>>129346922yes, anoneveryone who doesn't agree with you is just one guy
Fripp is a genius you dumbfuck plebs. No Pussyfooting alone mogs every single King Crimson album
>>129347208Eno is the one good thing in that albumfripp's guitar is dull and annoying
>>129345314They also have porn games called starless and discipline
most raped thread in all of /mu/
>>129346622more like TrvKCe
>>129345415>Fripp is a talentless hack
>>129345317Sinfield’s lyrics on Lizard and Islands were pretty bad
>>129345124The production is annoying. Larks and Starless sound perfect
>>129347866it's still his band
>>129346529>>129346652he's still the GOAT prog guy and everyone else exists beneath his shadow
>>129348840not even top10 prog guitaristshe's mogged by:>Steve Howe>Steve Hackett>Steve Hillage>David Gilmour>Pye Hastings>Martin Barre>Andrew Latimer>Jan Akkerman>Alan Holdsworth>Frank Zappaand that's just off the top of my head
>>129348840every great prog band has THE guy who makes the calls, usually the main creative talent, or an artist who's responsible for building up and mantaining the band's visionIan Anderson for Tull, Chris Squire for Yes, Vander for Magma, Waters for Pink Floyd, Hammill for VDGG, and so on...in KC, that figure is, however a self-appointed authority figure who is not (nor has been in any formation) the main creative talent, nor was he responsible for creating the band's visionhe just happened to be there when better people shaped the group's personality and sound, and placed himself as the leader
>FAAAAAAAAAAAALLEN>AAAAAAAAAAAANGEL
>>129348883almost none of those guys have a discography that is as great and as varied as king crimsons and the only guys on your list who can actually compete outside of david gilmore who is a psychdelic rock guy and barely prog at all is steve howe and steve hackett but they don't quite measure up. and i completely reject the idea that gong, focus, caravan, jethrol tull or camel who are basically storebrand king crimson can compare despite enjoying all of those groups. frank zappa and holdsworth are jazz fusion but you're right zappa mogs fripp
>>129345124Isn't that like some futa hentai?
>>129345283Actually a great decision because Starless solidifies Red as being one of the greatest albums of all time
>>129349122agreedalso, I love 70s KC, and SABB is a good album, but I feel like it should have been worked out further in the studioa lot of the tracks are muffled, poorly produced, and sound barely finished, like they're out of a bootleg recording
>>129349034>almost none of those guys have a discography that is as greathard disagreeespecially the ones from major prog bands have discographies that rival KC's>and as varied as king crimsonsthat's because none had as many completely different formations in their own bandsas a matter of fact, KC is barely even a band, it's more of a brand or a label that says "made under Robert Fripp's supervision">david gilmore who is a psychdelic rock guy and barely prog at allalright, I'll give you that one>steve howe and steve hackett but they don't quite measure uphow the hell not? Howe beats Fripp on every regard, he's probably the best prog guitarist everAs for Hackett, I'd say he's more skilled and sensible, but Fripp's style has more personalitya lot of prog guitar is derivative of Hackett's style too, which makes it sound less original>gong, focus, caravan, jethrol tull or camel who are basically storebrand king crimsonwtf they have absolutely nothing in commonnot the bands nor the guitarists>frank zappa and holdsworth are jazz fusionhard to label them that way, as both genres have massive overlappinga great deal of Zappa's 70s output can be classified as prog
>>129349087woah TIL
>>129348957funny how none of the examples you've listed are from guitarist-lead bandsis KC the only major example in prog? it's very common in rock music
>>129350677They all play guitar except vander
>>129349808i think about this debate in terms of their discographies and bands like yes and genesis are valid choices for favorite prog band if they lean more towards your personal preference but in my opinion both yes and genesis have 3 obviously great records and then a bunch of pretty good records. i think king crimson has 4 or 5 that are obviously great so in my opinion they edge the other groups out in terms of greatness. i also think its cool that fripp was able to take a rotating cast of musicians and still make consistently great and interesting albums. i didn't word it well but the storebrand crimson joke was supposed to be specifically about camel because i think mirage sounds like wetton era king crimson but honestly i love camel and think they're undoubtedly one of the most underrated prog band but its still understandable why they get overshadowed. and zappa is uncharacterizable and was in a league of his own but yeah ill agree sometimes he was progy
>>129350677Steven Wilson
>>129350927he's the only one playing guitar though
>>129351001I'd say KC has 3 obviously great ones (Court, Larks, Red), a few very good ones (Lizard, Islands, Discipline) and the others range from good to mediocrethe same can be said for most of the forementioned bands, thoughI personally think Jethro Tull has even more great ones (Aqualung, TaaB, APP, Minstrel, SftW), even if their music was more straightforward and less experimental
>>129345124Islands and In the Wake of Poseidon are not good at all and I'm assuming the same is gonna be true for Lizards when I listen. I love Discipline though
>>129345425you lost me with court being first but you brought me back with beat being last.
>>129345124would have been a perfect album without that improv song
>>129349178SABB is crisp as hell. Red is the muffled one, particularly the drums
>>129351539Truth nuke
>>129352454>muffledIt’s meaty
>>129345124ugh. i hated the tony martin years of black sabbath...
>>129352964Not Bill though. Burying him in the mix is a travesty
>>129352934not really a nukeit's fairly agreed upon
>>129352454not true btw
I hate fripp so much bros
>>129346529His solo stuff and collaborations with just one other guy are pretty good too
>>129345314>this was a King Crimson reference all along
>>129347372And Great Deceiver
new bruford kino just dropped https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uzv_mj8Lh_g
>>129357168He playing in my city later this year with his jazz trio. Thinking I should go but seems like they only play for an hour.
>>129345283Is Bible Black worth playing/watching in 2026 if I'm not a bdsmfag
>>129357626nah
>>129345293this shit is so cornyand it's the kind of lame stuff that will get frippfags telling you "omg fripp has such a great sense of humor, lol, most people just don't get it"
>>129357316I thought he retired from.drums or whatever. He didnt play when yes got inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame
>>129358632He's been playing shows for the last year
Starless > Bible Black
>>129357316i'd go. finding his jazz stuff online is hard
>>129358817Ya maybe I should still go. Just seems pricey (80 bucks) for an hour show for 2 nobodies and Bruford.
it bothers me that One More Red Nightmare has the least streams from this album (excluding Providence)
>>129358918damn i guessed 60 bucks. still probably worth it though, and hopefully they play over time
>>129358918most concerts are expensive these days. seems like a majority are at least 50 bucks after fees
>>129360068>most concerts are expensive these days. seems like a majority are at least 50 bucks after feesI know but least you can argue they're 2 hour shows. This is an hour. >>129360042Doesn't seem like so based on the setlist website. Seems like they play the same setlist every show.
I'm from Rio, and the first time King Crimson ever came to my city was in 2019, for a music festivalI bought the ticket, even though every other attraction in the day was lame as fuck (Muse, Imagine Dragons, etc)only 1h of concert, not in the main stage, and they didn't even play Starlessthat very week, they went and played 3h in São Paulo, and I wanted to kms for not being there instead
I don't know how I fell into a King Crimson binge for the last few weeks, but it's probably because of this board. However, RED is by far the player's choice from my perspective.
>>129345415> Fripp is a talentless hackYou shut your whore mouth
>>129358767I like the mother and son.
>>129362252King Crimson = greatrobert fripp = shit
>>129363785Who played guitar on the Night Watch then?
