Still better than the constant culture war/politics threads

The biggest problem with all these threads in the OP is that good faith discussions aren't possible in any of them. For the threads that are about music, they're bait threads which, despite having a long tradition on this imageboard, require a vocal segment of informed and seasoned listeners to engage constructively. Otherwise, those topics quickly devolve into interminable shitflinging until the users get board or the mods delete them.

Others are just rank shitpost threads. Nothing can be done to save those except ignore them or report them. Unfortunately, that becomes increasingly difficult when they start flooding the catalog and drowning out the threads where discourse can take place.

And then, there's the /pol/ bait hot take threads. Those discussions are never in good faith and exist solely for either the left or right to flex their bonafides and shit on perceived enemies. Those rarely produce anything other than clever zingers and cause tension. I can discuss politically radioactive music, but you need users with a healthy mindset to approach such material.

this is what happens when you have no capable moderation. your board goes to shit. and the people that do screech about jannies are the ones that incessantly post threads like that. they don't care about board etiquette and healthy discussions. their goal is to gradually erode the place into their own personal shitposting playground and they are the only ones left. and they are winning.

>this group of low effort threads is better than this other!
No.

always has been, always will be, GTFO summerfags

As much as people hate me for my obvious fixation on MR, I try to discuss her music, highlights/lowlights, artistic integrity, career course and raison d'ĂȘtre. Even when others are critical, I can have a conversation with them provided they bring receipts and can build their respective cases. I've even agreed with some of their critiques. Unfortunately, discussions are impossible with low effort "hurr she sucks she ugly durr" posts, so posting webms, pics and gifs works better.

Generals are okay, but being inoculated in the same generals with the same crowd rarely produces any quality discussion about music overall. Not to knock them because generals are fine for what they are, but a music board cannot be sustained only by generals.

Wow, we're bringing that phantom menace back.

Okay, summerfags were kinda irritating when school was off season, but the biggest problem afflicting this board, and all the shitposting and bait threads are downstream from this, is the lack of posters both in terms of quantity and quality. People blame contentious elections for the state of discourse, but the truth is that nobody posts here anymore. It's the same posters posting about the same topics day after day. All discussions have been centralized in places like Discord with formerly larger communities bleeding users by the month. Even if every /pol/bait thread was deleted and banned, traffic still wouldn't return here because the incentive to posting here simply doesn't exist beyond a lack of user registration.

ban kpop gens
make a board
some people have zero interest in it, and it just looks like a really, really shitty porn thread

A waifu board might be better than one dedicated specifically to kpop. Problem there, I can easily seen 2D vs 3D factionalism bleeding everywhere.
