Damnation on repeat forever. Opeth and Porcupine tree are just different compared to other bands
>>129399664I too despise their last 20 years of content.
>Blackwater Park>Deliverance>DamnationState a better trio run of albums, if you dare.
>>129400912>The Fall of HeartsThat's my favorite out of their alt/prog metal albums
>>129402057That one's definitely the last "fan favorite" that they put out but honestly, I hated Fall of Hearts on release. I like it now but I still find it too longwinded and lightweight for my preferences. City Burials addressed both of those issues and felt a bit like an updated Night is the New Day, so that's the prog era album that worked for me. I think I like that one like how most people like Fall.
>>129399664>>129400912>>129401090>Ghost Reveries and Still Life in the top 3Ghost Reveries has high highs but too much filler and Serenity Painted Death is a nu-metal song.I shouldn't be too hard on you gentlemen though because at least you mostly put their non-Damnation soft shit at the bottom.MorningriseMy Arms Your HearseBlackwater ParkDamnationDeliveranceOrchidGhost ReveriesStill LifeWatershedLast Will and TestamentThe Rest>>129400912I don't understand how you rate BMD that highly but DoDS in the middle.DoDSBMDDiscouraged OnesLast Fair Deal Gone DownTonight's DecisionI gave up on them hereViva Emptiness at the bottom

>>129404640Katatonia's my favorite band and I don't have that great of a difference in appreciation across most of the spectrum. BMD's a personal 10 for its more distinct tone and atmosphere, it's unusually linear and sparse for a death-doom record. But DoDS is a somewhat more traditional, but still distinct death/doom record that's I'd still give an 8. It's only with their last two that any sort of real ambivalence creeps in for me.>Viva Emptiness at the bottomThat was my first Katatonia album so I have a soft spot for it.
>>12939979Chiastic Slide wayyyy too low
>>129401112you realize how many different bands they rip off once you listen to stuff outside rock/metal
>>129401762alice coltrane string orchestra trilogy
>>129405902How does Opeth sound like that album?
>>129406085Do I have to do everything for you
>>129406194I have heard that album but I don't see the connection, people usually mention 70s prog bands
>>129406276probably because they also only listen to rock/metal
