More of a boyband than the Beatles

This album is the definition of mid. 6/10. SO many punk records.

Punk is so cringe because it claims to be muh anti-establishment but it's never banned and even some elites listen to these bands. That's right bitches, even Kanye West is more punk than punk itself because at least he has a song banned WORLDWIDE and some banned covers.
>>
punk isn't about being able to play music or thinking, it's about feeling and passion. that's the most important part of art, just feeling it. it doesn't matter if you can write great chord progressions and use major 5th chords with augmented tenths (I know theory but I would take Ramones over Bach, Tarkovsky, Beethoven, Brahms, etc anyday)

Says the little zoomer faggot who went halfheartedly into the LP with absolutly zero context.
Like previously having absorbed any & all relevant Stooges, Johnny Thunders & The Heartbreakers or Ramones albums that influenced it.
Forget about Richard Hell & the Voidoids: Too "advanced" for the paltry, shallow, oxygen starved zoomer brain to comprehend.
Nor has the pitiful little zoomer ever listened to the venerable likes of the Damned or Stranglers, bands adjacent to the Pistols.
That "Never Mind The Bollocks" literally birthed the Buzzcocks (albeit well before its official release) doesn't even exist as an accepted fact to the stunted zoomer mind.
Also, John Lydon/Rotten always loved Sabbath & Alice Cooper, which should tell you something about the guy.

Anons complaining about punk rock are almost always rightoids seething at an imagined leftist punk bogeyman even though punk has been dead since the 80s and even when it alive it was teenagers wearing swastikas to piss off their parents.

Don't care about the politics, i just like the music. So many bands have boring songs tho, like Damned, Clash, Heartbreakers. But Pistols still sounds pretty fucking good desu.

>muh punk le killed prog
So why am I supposed to pretend in the current year 2026 that the former link sounds better than the latter? It's because rock critic intelligentsia said so and le punk was such a le important cultural movement and I'm not allowed to believe my lying ears or something?

no one has ever claimed this.
literally zero (0) audience overlap, therefore impossible.

Punk is an oxymoron. Bunch of hippies in drag.

NTA, in 1977 prog rock was already a rotting carcass.
Musically, early-wave punk could reasonably be considered a revival of early rock ’n’ roll and garage rock. If you listen to My Generation by The Who or The Stooges’ self-titled debut, you’ll hear a lot of what shows up in the Sex Pistols. Early punk was basically a new generation of young British adults realizing they could make music just as interesting as Journey or Toto while having none of those bands’ technical prowess. It’s only in the post-punk period or in the hardcore revival that punk becomes (musically) something of its own, with absolute giants like PiL, Pere Ubu, Talking Heads, etc.

>hippies
lol what
>>
>>129430055
Punk Rock reset Rock music. Indie, Alternative (Goth, Emo), post-punk, even Metal all exist because Rock music took back its simple, original form in 1976, starting with bands like Sex Pistols and Ramones. It all branched out from there.

>lol what
They're ideologically identital to hippies, no? Both want for the same end even if they have differing ideas of how to achieve it. Two sides of the same coin.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean
