What's some good appropriate secular music for a Christian? I can handle a bit of cussing/sinful lyrics but if the whole song glorifies sin then it's not for me, instrumental music is completely fine along with Christian themed songs from secular artists like Kendrick Lamar - Sing About Me, I'm Dying of Thirst or GZA - B.I.B.L.E.
why does 4chan think that larping as a puritan soccer mom is cool
>>129455247You know what isn't cool? Hell
>>129455236Spacemen 3>>129455247Op is probably not a tranny
>>129455267the concept hell was invented for psychopaths who cant fathom why it might not be good to rape someone unless there's a direct punishment for it
>>129455285Demons do exist and reveal themselves during sleep paralysis, meth benders and benadryl trips, if you don't turn back to Christ you'll have to not only deal with being helplessly tormented but being burnt forever, your choice, not gonna force you to convert
>>129455337and you will waste your only shot at life abdicating your purpose and responsibility towards yourself to a god who doesn't care if children will live to make that choice
>>129455443>waste your only shot at lifeThere's 3 lives in my belief, the one where you are a lost sheep trying to look for fulfillment in a world that has none, the 2nd life where you realise that chasing fleshly materialistic desires and commuting sins just makes you miserable and you repent to Christ and the life after the death of the flesh which depends on if you took the stairway to Heaven or Highway to hell, I look at earth life as something that I never asked for so might as well put faith into a infinitely better one with no evil, becoming born again freed me from a lot of the burdens this pedo satanist ruled world tries to put on you such as being happy with the way God made me and freed me from the self destructive sin of envy
>>129455236i was gonna suggest Stryper, but they're a explicitly christian band and not really that secular.

>>129455540Awesome, before becoming serious about my faith I would listen to rap where the lyrics were adultery, murder, drugs, disrespecting dead people (can't deny that Off The Tooka is a timeless banger though) and materialism
>>129455247>>129455285>>129455337>>129455443>>129455526Music about sex, drugs, violence, crime, partying, etc is not something I really care to avoid, but he's not hurting himself by searching for different topics in his music. >>129455236just dont listen to gangster rap or brutal dm or slutpop or.. I guess nasheeds are outlike 99% of music fits your description
>>129455526you're looking for permanent happiness instead of accepting that fulfillment is an organ you need to breathe life into. It is the most gluttonous desire of all. your supposed god put you on this planet and you spit on its face. All this is not enough? why would such an ungrateful person ever deserve something such as heaven? You're not special for seeing the evil of this world. The burden of this world is that we are all responsible for it but you're looking for the exit door right away instead of focusing on how you can help others. Maybe that's where you would find real fulfillment.
>>129455688>I guess nasheeds are outthere are christian prayers in arabic.
>>129455688Yeah, f Hollywood, bunch of devil worshippers, people are like "why is this talentless tard popular?" for example that dude who originated the 6 7 viral meme is into all types of ritualistic stuff, musical talent isn't nearly as important as your witchcraft talent in the mainstream music industry, Diddy isn't the only messed up person in that group too
>>129455236you could always listen to the Mars Volta because their lyrics make no fucking sense
>>129455236OP I don't know if you expected actual recommendations for this thread instead of just a gay back and forth between an internet christian [?] and internet atheist [?]. Maybe this little quarreling might actually be the exact opportunity for preaching that you were baiting for, I can't know, but assuming you're not acting in bad faith, basically the entire prog rock oeuvre is made by virgin nerds for virgin nerds, and despite having "rock" in the name, they're too uncool to sing about sex drugs & rock n rollSo listen to Anekdoten's Until The Ghosts Are All Gone which is a fun album I've been spinning lately or 70s Genesis or whatever and see if you like the genre
>>129455247that's like a strong majority of users of most websites at this point whether they're larping as christians or larping as "lesbian women". same mindset. your peers are a bunch of lame faggots with a bunch of lame excuses

ELP has a few, but most of their discography isn't about that stuff.
>>129455889I was exaggerating a little, King Crimson has that Ladies of The Road tune and Easy Money for instance. But if you compare to other rock genres like the hard rock of the time, or the glam and grunge that came in the following decades, you start to see what I meantAnd what you said about ELP is true. Their two most famous works (Tarkus and Karn Evil 9) are basically sci fi stories. Rush's 2112 is the most ambitiously twee "music will save us all" song of all time>>129455782lmao true. I think TMV lyrics just mean whatever you want them to mean since they're indecipherable, although they do evoke some violent imagery at points
>>129455791he can also listen to instrumentals and classical music.
>>129455943>Their two most famous works (Tarkus and Karn Evil 9) are basically sci fi storiesThere's a few stray lines about 7 virgin and a mule in karn evil 9.
>>129455977right but it's not like it's glorifying bestiality right?it's just an absurd passing line that signals how depraved that apocalyptic circus was>>129455965and excellent big band jazz, too. that goes without saying, I was specifically trying to tailor some recommendation that had lyrics for OP, since it seems he's mainly into hip hop...? which is heavily lyrical music although the quality of said lyrics can be questionable at times

>>129462664I didn't make the image, but if I had to guess, it's just poking fun of an alt right talking point that states that christianity and its sentimentality is the reason you have somalians in the USA or Europe raping and killing and whatnot, and thus we must do away with all this christian stuff and replace it with the good nietzschean stuff and have miniatures of Arno Breker statues sold in souvenir shopes, et cetera. Naturally, there are ways of reconciling christianity with racism, much like there are ways of reconciling any thought system with any other thought system if you're clever enough (or slippery enough). In fact I can think of a compromise right now, let's try this:>Not all races are equal in their capacities and behaviors, statiscally speaking, much like the same people inside a race are not equal, or maybe inside the same family; however, they are all made by God, for whatever purpose, and thus are capable of salvation and are opportunities for both charity (mercy) and justice (punishment); from this, it does not neccessarily follow the thesis of total nigger deathThere we go. Not too bad for a minute of thinking, and I'm sure you can make it more sophisticated if you wish. Do I believe in it? Not really, I'm just toying with the idea in my head.>the entire old testament is [...]Some christians accept this as true while still arguing that both Christ (and more explicitly Paul of Tarsus) abolished tribalistic in-group out-group thinking in favor of "spiritual" brotherhood inside the church, at least when it comes to salvation and favoritism.
>>129462309Again, I didn't make the image, but I don't think it tries to refute any of the claims presented. Rather it just serves to highlight the fact that the claims are so tired and rehashed they have ceased to be novel (for anyone older than 16) and so the image is kind of funnny for anyone who has encountered all the claims online a few dozen of times. Internet arguments are fruitless, the image is just meant to be funny. In fact, most of the claims highlighted in the bingo (and also the religious responses to them) don't even warrant any "refutation" because they're not arguments at all, they're just... statements.Take for instance the claim that>Religion was invented to control the massesThat's a bold claim, but it's not an argument. At best it "points" to an argument being made elsewhere, in a debate that has been going for quite a while. If you actually try to follow this discussion, you will be presented with such a large volume of argumentation from both sides you'll only exhaust it (maybe) after a lifetime of study. Nobody really does that, in the end you just sort of believe what you want.Take this other claim right here: >>129461889>Put your ego aside for just a moment and consider the consequences of being incorrect. This is just a variation of Pascal's Wager, and the same objection applies. If you actually tru to follow all the debate on this specific argument, you will again be presented with such a large volume of text you'd have to dedicate a lifetime just to sort it out. Again, nobody does that, we just sort of believe what we want.TL;DRThe bingo doesn't refute any claims because, they don't even deserve the effort refutation; internet apologetics by christians also do not deserve the effort of refutation; claims made by both sides just "point" to real debate that has been raging for centuries and of a volume so large it is basically undecidable. We all believe what we want and try to justify it later
>>129462818>>129462994Actually, this stuff I posted is off-topic and warrants deletion, if not an outright ban. I should have kept my damned mouth shut, but I just couldn't resist posting that little bingo image. Guess I should stop now. Back to song recommendations...>>129455236OP, check The Contortionist's "Clairvoyant" album. It's a really accessible piece of alternative rock with some progressive influence dedicated to a friend of the singer, who relied on drugs after his mother died and then ended up also dead from an overdose. It's not explicitly an anti drug album, since I'd bet the guys in the band use drugs themselves, but it does lives in that space of "afterparty" tunes that reflects on youth rashness after growing up a little. The album is labeled as "progressive rock" or "progressive metal" but I hate that label since it makes me think of Dream Theater or Animals as Leaders and this album is far removed from that, it's more of an alternative rock LP with some restrained keyboard parts. Try it if you dig rock music already or want to get into rock music.
