MTV happened and you were allowed to be ugly and stupid looking before the total goonification of art
I miss KISS sucks cock and this is particularly bad but still
>>

Why do you think they wore face paint?
>>
*rapes Jani Lane*

explain what? why they went facepaint off? they were following the trends. their goofy makeup was old news, they had to play the "hard prettyboy" schtick that glam bands were doing.

Why did every band feel the need to follow trends
Did any big name in the 70s not change their sound and make absolute garbage because of it?
>but Genesis and Yes were good
They still changed their sound
>>
lick it up

the biggest constant in pop culture is change. you're only "it" for so long. once the kids that grew up listening to you going to your shows start slowing down on the drinking and getting married, it's onto the next thing.

When metal bands get a footing they never go away

actually, mtv had the opposite effect on musicians
>>

that's also the case for many rock bands, but that doesn't mean they are still "it" anymore. they're largely coasting on their initial success. ofc there's bands like metallica in that every time i go to see them play the people there is basically a reflection of the country's demographics in that metallica perennially appeals to young generations and makes them fans for life, but they are also a once-in-a-multiple-generation example.

What subreddit was this pasted from?

adapting to a new decade can be hard and even moreso in the 80s because culture moved quickly then and people were trend chasers to a greater extent than today. KISS were just seen as relics from the previous decade.

They are a rainbow in the dark

Lick it the fuck up, you pathetic dork spazz zoomcuck
>>

what i mean is back then nobody wanted to be caught with a car/electronics/home furnishings/clothes/music/hairstyle more than 5 years old. this is hard for zoomer to grasp but people in the 20th century were very forward thinking.
