What's the greatest Canadian band of all time? Post some essential leafcore
Glenn Gould
>>129458888>greatestNo idea. I'll dump the important/good/influential stuff I know though.Essential leafcore is Women and all of the Canadian post-punk that splintered off from that. Was also very influential on post-punk internationally, but in Canada there were tons of bands in the 2010s copying then advancing the style.https://womenband.bandcamp.com/album/public-strainSunforger is one of the best direct descendents of that style.https://sunforger.bandcamp.com/album/mono-no-awarehttps://sunforger.bandcamp.com/album/sunforgerThere's a Winnipeg band called Fencing that took me by surprise. They're more of a post-rock band, but in a vein pretty different from the GY!BE-inspired stuff you'd hear elsewhere.https://fencingwpg.bandcamp.com/album/fencing-wikipediaI'd also put Rockets Red Glare as one of the greats of Canadian rock. Stellar post-hardcore/math rock, which was a big scene in much of Canada in the 90s and early 2000s.https://blueskiesturnblack.bandcamp.com/album/self-titled

>>129458888I wouldn't call Matthew Good the greatest. As far as talent and recognition goes it would probably be Celine Dion. But something about his music really captures the national spirit of 2000's Canada. I never thought I would be able to hear the stretches of highway or empty wilderness in music. He's also insufferable, like all leafs.
