The live 3 is a really fun tool if anyone is thinking of investing. After some youtube academy it takes maybe 5 minutes to get some drums down with some chords over top. Even though the MPC can do everything the 404 can do, I still prefer using the 404 to sample the MPC. Would be nice to get the 404 sound back into the MPC but there's feedback since the MPC is receiving the same signal it's sending out but with fx layered on top

>>129456065i like it too, i haven't had time to learn to use it, but i hope it's good like v1 (i've heard some things but mostly the dust must have been settled, like the manual mode being incorporated as an "addon" to synthv2 and her voice, which sounds good but people misinterpreted bad midi polished songs as how she really sounded like). so like i told u i've yet to learn synthv2 and her voice but i hope with the addition of the unison mode the workflow will be smoother, who knows.

>>129468152Epic bro thank u>>129464813Find trackers. More specifically a certain (ru)ssian (tracker) and use qbitorrent and tor or mullvad
Anyone else like the idea of running a parallel low pass filter and high pass filter on the entire mix and blending it in? Or is it better suited for individual tracks? These results arent too bad

>>129469955your timing, performance, and arrangement are already fucking you over.whatever compression you attempted is additionally jumping all over the place and not helping.
>>129468192I will take another look when I'm home. I definitely feel like whatever I'm aiming for is possible I'm just messing something up. The problem comes in once I turn on the FX on the 404. It all bugs out
Is there a DAW that will let me see what Ive written in standard notation and an option to let me play it in waterfall mode?
>>129467605fwiw you are wrong and the other anon is right. instruments where you adjust something so the notes are all in-key are baby training wheels for people who don't know how to play music. it's not a cool feature it's a way to onboard retards as customers
I cant wait to get off work. I wanna get this resample shit worked out. As I learn it more it seems like using the live 3 as sort of home base for all my sounds would be really fun.
Do you pretty much just use different scale degrees to create a melody?
>>129473863Yeah you have to unless you play one chord for a whole song
>>129473863transcribe a song and ask yourself the same question. what key is the song in, does the melody stick to that key. if it doesn't, what are the harmony and melody doing? it helps to know a little bit of theory and what scales are commonly used and how and why to transition between them
>>129463036Wtf is with that noodlemagazine link? This is a blue board!
>>129468192I figured out how to get the buzzing to stop but when I get the sound recorded in the MPC it is layered and sounds weird so I'll just stick with using the 404 and the Mac with the mpc. Not a big deal cause I have both the 404 and the clean MPC tone through my mixer but if I was outside of the home id only be able to get the 404 sound.

>>129474598>I figured out how to get the buzzing to stopNice>but when I get the sound recorded in the MPC it is layered and sounds weird so I'll just stick with using the 404 and the Mac with the mpcNooooo! Are you going to make me buy an MPC Live III and SP 404 mk2 just to mess with this? I'd maybe be okay dropping $500, but the Live III is damn near $1700. Shit. How about intentionally routing only certain sounds to the SP404 to then go back to the MPC? Like... you assign the sounds you want to add 404 effects to to outputs 5/6 or 7/8 on the MPC. Have you tried something like that?
so the live 3 has this link feature with ableton and it works on my pc but not my mac checked the privacy settings and everything is updated maybe i doubt its bc its the pirated version cause it works fine on windows but who knows

>>129475403Yeah not working is better than working so I understand. I just don't like being limited to the computer screen so I'll deal with being a wagie
>>129475409I limit myself to the good ipad loopy pro ipad screen instead of the bad laptop screen. It's more fun. I hate making music on bad screen as well. Also I play analog instruments.
>>129475433>iPadYou record your instruments into the ipad? How would that work with a guitar?
>>129475440iRig HD x audio interface (it's shit btw)
>>129475461Hell yeah man. That's a good setup. How many instruments do you play?
>>129475582Harmonica, bass, and recently I've been gifted some small drums (congas or some in shit) and I'm learning how to record and play them instead of using a drum machine on ipad.
Why are so many tracks like drums or bass stacked in modern pop songs? For example Bury A Friend by Billie Eilish had like 14 drum tracksI'm new to DAWs so I don't really get it since most music in that past just used drums, bass, rhythm, leads, keys etc
>>129475880workflow can be weirdly easier dealing with audio files and individual hits on separate channels. in most daws you can edit in the audio waveform clip itself, stuff like clip gain, speed/pitch. also for the sake of more easily processing each individual hit. it's also a way to circumvent using a piano roll if you don't like using them for whatever reason.
>>129475905this was retardedly worded and redundant but it might be an ableton user thing too, its piano roll is notoriously tedious
2 different mixes:1. https://voca.ro/15TOPY2tJRaW2. https://voca.ro/1lS2cdszcqL7Focus mainly on the mix since this is practice for me.which one does prod like better?>inb4 neither.
yeah i always end up with like 20-30 drum tracks for basic songs even after cutting down and compiling stuff
>>129475905>>129475926So it's not like an overlay thing it's just easier to work with different tracks for different parts of the song? That makes sense
>>129476073it can definitely be an overlay thing too. one of the benefits of a daw is being able to layer every aspect of a hit as surgically as you wish ie have the attack of a percussive be one sound and layer in another sample for the release or sustain. lots of people have one kick for the 'hit' part (punch) and another for the sustain/release that's more subby for thickness. even in traditional recording a drumset for example, similar principle to mixing in different mics where each part of the kit has its own channel. and you'll often have two mics on the snare (not a drummer mind you) one for the actual snare part and the other capturing the 'body' of the snare.

Working on a Judas Priest - Breaking the Law cover.https://vocaroo.com/1eyOu5AMmbosSadly it sounds like dog shit with the bit of vibrato I added to the main riff (not in the original) and I'm going to have to rerecord that. I'm kind of happy with the bass though.
thoughts? https://vocaroo.com/1cTm6NwURdKdhttps://vocaroo.com/1mlgZB2fGR73https://vocaroo.com/16knEsw8eFOcalso, what's the cheapest way to reduce noise/vibrations coming from electronic drums? i live in an apartment, and don't want to disturb my downstairs neighbor. i was thinking of playing on my bed, not sure if vibrations would transfer to floor that way. i don't really want to build a tennis ball riser if i don't have to
Please give me constructive criticism/help improvinghttps://vocaroo.com/1WgnVcRDU7fK
>>129479573i feel like this is what the insides of an autistic femboy brain sound like, not bad but interesting to me. vocals need to be a bit turned up in volume, but just a bit. otherwise i think if this is just what you're going for, then it's good. and it needs an interesting bridge too, that could give it more movement.
>>129479396>https://vocaroo.com/1cTm6NwURdKdgood, i always try not to be cynical and listen to the songs in the board like a normal listener would with his radio, but there was a moment i realized the guitar choked and it kinda felt that it wasn't going nowhere until you got it again. i like this song but it would be better without that choke. even so who cares, i liked i.https://vocaroo.com/1mlgZB2fGR73i feel like this is a draft, unlike the first song this is a little less finished and you want me to comment if where this song goes it's worth going further? i would say so, but if you're already giving your energy to the first one, i would prioritize that one, then give this second one more thought. if polished like the first one then i would bet it will end up sounding better.https://vocaroo.com/1mlgZB2fGR73this sounds fun and feels like something that could be in the background of an adult swim commercial. if you don't want it to be like a commercial then put some vocals or something that makes it go somewhere. but until now it sounds ok (because i don't know if that's where you intended it to be. because if you didn't, then it needs more polish.)
>>129479396put rugs under the drums, like, buy 1 or 2 thin rugs and fold them that way you don't spend so much on rugs and play without disturbing the neighbors
>>129478424sounds really good, finished. also i don't think the sony headphones matter that much, i'm hearing this on the hd600 and sounds great (maybe you mastered making music in them, who knows. but it sounds great)
>>129477474>https://vocaroo.com/1lsp2kaxXibZsounds good, i wouldn't worry about the drums. remember that all that matters is that it sounds good. if you hadn't told me that i wouldn't even know it didn't had real drums. normal people don't care about those things they just sit back and enjoy the music and this one is one they could easily enjoy doing just that. i like it
>>129478266They are basically identical outside of eliminating some, in my opinion, overbearing low mid frequencies to make the snare less pang-y and overbearing. Listen to the last double time part and be mindful of the snare.
What are the best instrument libraries for kontakt?
>>129478039>>129478424It sounds beautiful my only criticism is the loud boombox type bass, but that type of bass has normie appeal, normies like it for some reason to show off how annyoing and rumbly their cars can be. BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOMI prefer softer bass. I fucking hate that type of bass in a car, too many bad experiences with normies where they cranck the volume to fucking 30-40-50 and nobody can fucking talk.. just listen to BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOMYou know what im saying? But yeah the song is good.

arturia analog lab is a good free plugin for various synths and keyboard instruments including a few moog or moog adjacent patches i believe, covers many of your classic synth tones
>>129487550the intro is not it imo everything past the drop is sick, nice mixing and bass + drum tones
>>129487561thanks anon, I'm happy to hear that the bass actually sits well with things. Usually I muck that up. I'll work on that intro though. I was trying to incorporate some sort of melody to lead into the main bit, but idk if that solo synth is the play either
my idm edm cover is coming out very questionably so far bros im scared
arturia keylab 49 mk3 or novation launchkey 49 mk4?ignore the price; money ain't shit.keylab>nice wood panel sides>pitch and mod wheel directly left of the keys>touch sensitive knobs and sliders so you can check parameters without moving them (as opposed to needing to hold a shift button on the launchkey)launchkey>4 more pads but 2 rows of 8 instead of 3 rows of 4>GForce BassStation VST
novations from what i remember have light and cheap feeling keys arturia prob best bet. anything with a fatar keyboard would be ideal if you're looking for piano like action. some of the shittier plastic midi keyboards have sorta sharp jagged edges that can really interfere with their fluid playability.
>>129487927thank you. i was just watching a video where the guy was saying the novation keys were clicky-clacky and he wasn't a big fan of that.the arturia has semi-weighted waterfall keys, so not very piano-like, but that's fine, i think.
What's the most basic retard-proof video that will teach me how fucking drums are supposed to work? I'm trying to create basic patterns in Reaper, I've had to throw out the entire song's worth like 4 times now because it never matches despite me trying to follow beats, and it's making me want to KMS.
have you tried playing with velocities? what are you using for drums? try experimenting the blends in your drum vst ie you can typically adjust the blend of room mic sound with direct mic etc. i don't have a video but it would help if you specified what is bothering you about your drums in their current state.

https://vocaroo.com/1f3l3r19IkXIWhat do you guys think so far? I just made this in an hour or so
at what time was /prod/ unusable due to youtube shilling? i want to see it with my own eyes. i dont understand why we have to post vocaroos when this thread is dying or deathrattling most of the time anyway.
>>129493089If you want to post your YouTube shit, go to the shill threads. Simple as.
>>129493089It's always been that way. Vocaroo is just faster to upload to
>>129492888Comfy. I like the water and cute voice samples :3Pad sounds too loud and overpowering, but that could just be me.
>>129493089if YT links were allowed here then /prod/ could easily turn into a thread about advertising your music instead of the process of making music
>>129493233Thanks!I was gonna fix that. Some Omnisphere presets are extremely loud
I made some sounds and they're not a track with a defined start and end.https://vocaroo.com/1dYhcPM778q4
https://vocaroo.com/1n07YHld346lOk i kept at it but didn't change the intro yet, just add a shit ton more to the overall track. I probably even got a bit too silly with the foley. I might've made a small bit of a horror scene. What's yall's thoughts?>>129492888its pretty ethereal and reminds of ps1 menu selection music (in the best vibey way possible). Personally, i think the bass is competing too much with other things in the low end, so it doesnt sound tight to me. I think if you worked at that, it be a real trip.>>129491761its fun, itd definitely vibe to it on the dance floor. I do think though that the wide bass hurts it a bit. To me a hard saw bass would fit the aesthetic more, as it would fit the style of the synth and vox.>>129490577wayyy too much side and high end anon. That crash is earpiercing in headphones. Otherwise i agree with >>129490605
>129493880cont.>>129489631too much bitcrush, if you're going for avant garde idm type shit, it needs to have a better high end (otherwise it just sounds like dial up modem noises through and old school telephone). There's ideas there that work, just need to not squash it to hell>>129488705i dig it if you're going for ambient background music. Kinda of feels like im floating, especially with all the side blips. The guitar needs a bit more eq love, shooting from the hip here, but it sounds like you need a bell a few db down around 1kHz - 3kHz>>129488369>https://vocaroo.com/13hhgqQkAnwFthat one fucks, the bass hits right compared to the others.>>129479573too much sweeps anon & that arp synth is annoying. You'd be better off with just some sort of pizz or saw pluck. Also your kick is too wide for being the bass element, you need to tighten the kick low end to mono, or throw in some sort of driving sub (the current bass you have feels like an octave too high). Plus that kick is weirdly off kilter to one ear, so it feels odd when listening on headphones. The ideas are there (esp @1:20) but i think it needs work.
>>129493089>newfag pissing himself because he wants to milk a few views out of prodThis general was dead and unusable for years because of two or three autists shilling endlessly. Don’t bitch about it, post in the official shill thread and shut the fuck up
>>129493886>vocaroo #1 has 128 kbps>vocaroo #2 has 320 kpbs>vocaroo 3 has 123 kbpsexplain OLDFAG who cant hear the difference anymore.
>>129493991
Flac = 134 kpbs Wav = 105 kpbs Mp3 = stays the same. Why is this not told in the op? are you all retarded and dont like to listen to good quality, that explains a lot. it is almost random what vocaroo does to non mp3's. imagine using mp3 in 2026. whatever. i tried.
>>129494178oh look a Flacfag...Upload your Flac to Catbox.moe then... And share it.
>>129494211this was too easy. stop giving me so many (you)'s. way too predictable. you guys are like rats.
>>129493880But im an israeli from tel aviv and that is a saw bass.Also. The high end and side chain are reminiscent of Modern™ mixes
>>129463036Has anyone tested these already?
>>129493886never happened btw
>>129494900Yes it did
>>129495041prove it
>>129495105Go look at the archive and go back five years
lets conclude:>schizos had this thread under control for two full years>you cant find it in the archive but it really happened>it happened even though the rules were in place back then>in more than 5 years of vocaroo posting no guideline exists on how to upload to vocaroo to provide the best listening xp. >just dont do it because the circlejerk /shill/ is there for you to get a "rec">multiple people ITT have shown they cant upload their files properly and post ~100-150kbps even though >256 is the accepted standard.>bpd posters are here day in day out, either hugboxxing or telling people to kill themselves (bpd = always unappropriate)>these posters dont get called out at all and have made multiple people leave (not hard to notice at all)
>>129494290i wanted to but like, i dunno if the price was too high or there was lack of demos (vid in a prod song for example). all i got was a 10 sec repeated audio that don't get the most of all the effects he presents. i guess he must just work on the presentation.
>>129496525that's unfortunate, at least we got some good tips and songs going around. besides some good vsts.
>>129491531ye the mix sounded okidoki
>>129493884>sounds like dial up modem noises through and old school telephoneFiltered
When mixing does the>create multiple tracks of the same instrument and pan them to the left and rightthing work with VST synths or is it just a guitar thing? I tried it out of curiosity and didn't notice any noticeable difference
>>129488369https://vocaroo.com/13hhgqQkAnwFi like this mix. sounds good on laptop speakers. love everything going on melodically. production sick too.
>>129496525>these posters dont get called out at all and have made multiple people leave (not hard to notice at all)gonna take a wild guess and say it was actually you making the thread insufferable to be in
i got the bugattimaseratiferrari
>>129496932Correct
>>129496932We all can see that; no need to reply to him. His bullshit even turned up at the same time Tel Aviv was mentioned again after a couple months of hiatus (we all know that guy who posts about Telafon Tel Aviv is a shitposter).>>129497500I wanted a Maserati, but Britney Spears called me a bitch and told me to get to work. any green goblin junglists in?https://vocaroo.com/1jsD4go3Vgy6couldnt resist lil sewerslvt influence at the end
https://vocaroo.com/1izzjpmybAeHmade a (lazy) remix of common's thisisme
Any effects plugins that are worth it over what you get in a DAW? Effects are always an afterthought with me.
>>129500515you’re gonna have to be more specific about what you would want and what you do if you want a non-random answer
>>129500632I'll take the random answer.
>>129500515yes everything by newfangled and eventide. just get bundles from audioz. >>129497585>making up more schizophrenic fabulations what you never have is proof.
very simple question:why is there no guideline in the OP outlining how beginners should upload their files?answer: because you suck.
I keep trying to make psytrance and keep ending up making something else.
>>129501472i seem to ruin the thread by spoonfeeding too much, you have to wait for the MVPs.
>>129501472just kidding, provide payoff after repeating twice, arp everything for micromodulations, you are probably not filtering sqelching enough or not having enough fills. generic psytrance is not needed anymore, you should probably make the "something else" :p
>>129501537>generic psytrance is not needed anymore, you have a point, there's only so much variation you can get with a bassline and some random FX sounds.
>>129500515Valhalla effects are awesome
>>129500515soundtoys, valhalla like already mentioned. decapitator and echo boy are borderline essentials if you don't want the whole collection. spending 200 on an eq might be controversial to people but i find FabFilter Pro Q3 to be well worth the money and all their plugins are good. there are cracks out there anyways.
>>129501558guitars and doublebending synths (it changes filter, keytracking and filter gets modulated) has still some potential. i went to a few psy parties (the girls are pretty hot ngl) and the only memorable set was a guy in a ac/id shirt doing 2 hours of guitarish/synth borderline metal/rock crossover. he didnt play on a big stage though, like this niche-niche but i cant really remember what the other guys did, just too generic. check out beatport it recently got a psytrance section, sounds all the same to me. https://www.beatportal.com/articles/1257068-beatport-launches-new-sub-genre-psy-techno
