So after 50 years of increasing success, rap was suddenly killed off by a dorky midget? What a weird cultural arc for an entire genre of music.

They really blew up the genre because a light skin was winning

Kendrick is a garden gnome

Gen Alpha don't like rap. It's boomer music to them.

It's over.

and nothing of value was lost
>>
near the end it replaced rock in the cultural zeitgeist and was on the verge of exploding into a million subgenres and becoming something unique with emo rap.
Lil peep, xxxtenction, lil pump, 69, lil xan, like em or hate em, they were bringing something new to the genre. then they all died or went to prison or fell off and then covid happened, rap turned 50 years old, rap then had a final showdown between pop rap and Conscience rap, and Conscience rap won. but Conscience rap dont put butts in the seats.
Now its on the decline, but its on autopilot, most of the top rap guys are in their late 30s, early 40s, kanye is almost 50 fucking years old, and normies dont know what to listen to next, no one knows what happens next.

music feels like its dying mainstream music post rap has become nothing but benson boon country pop garbaj

idk i do feel like people like nettspend gave it a few extra years of life support and refute the 'conscious won' claim
>>
That raises a (serious) question - if Kendrick were a muscular 6'5" looksmaxxed gigachad, would rap be in a better place right now? Would that version of Kendrick be a better 'fit' for the current cultural moment?
>>
>>129466819
all that garbaj like netspend, bladee, young lean, xaviersobased, semetary, etc all that sarcastic meme rap isnt mainstream, and no one listens to it

it's too funny how this guy got so deeply mindbroken by college chick talking points and other twitter-tier lib politics of the kind
called drake a misogynist claiming objectified women as if any other rapper was different lmao
as if his hero pac didnt say shit like
>HOES GET HORNY... NIGGAS DIE

does mainstream to speak of even exist anymore? wouldn't millions of listeners end up meeting the parameters for mainstream? is there a number or is it about household name status, crossgenerational fame? that stuff strikes me as mainstream as far as mindshare even if the branding and aesthetics are 'underground.'
>>
Not music
>>
>>129466856
no one knows who nettspend is besides people who are extremly online and into rap, also his music sucks, i tried to listen to it once and it was all toilet sounds desu
>>

It feels like 2010's music from rappers like Mac Miller and Lil Peep and even XXX fell off incredibly quickly. They were briefly dominant, and then they were gone. And not just because they died. Even living rappers from that scene like Carti are mostly forgotten today,
>>
I don't think the pop rap stuff will ever fully die out. People will always like to party and have fun music. But going back to being underground for autists is a massive win for us uncs.

only tekashi and xtentacion had a vision. no genre can survive on two kids alone. the truth is corridos tumbados pulled many hispanic kids but very few black kids. the language divide is what ultimately killed rap. not because there isnt good rap in spanish but because burgers never bothered to discover it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWkFxAHX3Sg

>and normies dont know what to listen to next
this might explain why so many zooms and alphas listen to 70s pop and stuff from any generation. never thought of it that way but it makes sense.
>>
It's just nigger fatigue, it was inevitable
It only worked as long as they had some credible claim to being marginalised, but after decades of being promoted and dominating the charts and shithop becoming ubiquitous, there was nowhere this non-music genre could go but out
>>
>>129469129
you sound a little bit racist
>>
>>129469159
Yeah I am a little bit racist to be honest
>>
>>129466232

>>

Just let it go, unc. It's the new version of washing your Trans-Am on a Sunday blasting Bon Jovi. Just be happy you got time in the sun.
