Isaac Wood was the heart and soul of this band and I'm tired of people saying he wasn't.The one thing I've seen so much from people here who are urging people to move on is that "Isaac was great, but he was just one member of 7" or "He's not the entire identity of the band let it go"I think this is completely dishonest and people don't understand how much of the bands direction and sound was led by him. Every band needs someone who is spearheading the ideas, nothing good gets done when seven different people are all contributing to the same song at the same time. The other thing is that everyone seems to forget that Isaac was a brilliant guitarist, In the early days of the band he was the ONLY guitarist. Luke came on in 2019 after many of the songs for FTFT were already being polished up. The way that people glance over the fact that Isaac wrote most if not all of the guitar riffs in a rock/post-rock band is crazy. He only gets remembered as a singer.
The magic of this band was born out of the combination of the catchy post punk inspired riffs and Isaac's undeniable ability to grab your attention and deliver some of the most dense, intelligent and provocative lyrics of recent memory. The rest of the band tied everything together and the range of instruments allowed for big explosive moments that built off of the framework that Isaac laid out on each song. The band lost what made the band great with Isaac, I'll say it. I have an immense amount of respect for the talents and achievements of the other members, but they are clearly lacking direction and a cohesive mission statement. Since bush hall the themes and sounds of the songs are all over the place. The band has a right to make whatever music they want, obviously, and it hurts that Isaac's departure put them all in a tough spot.I really truly feel that Isaac's contributions to this band were so significant, that the rest of the members should have changed the name before working on a new album. There is just absolutely no way they can live up to reputation this band has created. In conclusion, you can make fun of isaac stans, you can complain about the dudes in spiderland hoodies who are sad and upset, you can celebrate the new fun lesbian songs and sing and dance as much as you want. Do not write off the loss of the creative genius that put this band on the map as just a road bump. So many people are distancing themselves from the band because they know there's nothing left for them anymore.I don't know why so many are taking it as a point of pride to push these people out the door. We're happy you're gone! Stop complaining! Have fun with your new band. Its not Black Country, New Road
>>129468016>Isaac Wood was the heart and soul of this band and I'm tired of people saying he wasn't.Literally no one says otherwise.
The other members are pretty talented and contributed to the song writing and that but I do prefer them with Isaacs singing and lyrics
>>129468023I'd argue they'd already lost it when they released FTFT, they needed to have recorded an album in 2019 when they were still edgy kids, that no-wave attitude when they were playing songs like Kendall Jenner was such a huge part of their appeal when they were first building hype, it's what set them apart from just being a rich kid art school band, now it's just le reference, le reference, photoshoot that looks like a John Lewis catalogue, etc.
>>129468023>some of the most dense, intelligent and provocative lyrics in recent memory>"billie eilish style">"why don't you sing in an english accent">"leave muh rich daddy out of this"even though I do enjoy listening to this band from time to time, especially their first album, most of their lyrics are fucking abysmal pop culture referencing pseudo-poetic slop
Do we know what’s actually wrong with Woods? Autism and social anxiety?
>>129468347Yeah their music still sounds good and occasionally interesting, but pretty aimless They really needed a strong songwriter at the core of things.
