I really like C&C, but it would elevated to an untouchable peak if 1: the story of The Amory Wars the songs are telling was understandable from just the music itself, and2: the story of The Amory Wars was actually good

It’s trying to be a big sci-fi epic, but there isn’t enough emotion woven into it or attention given to making you care about the characters, so it all just feels pointless and schlocky.I will say though, the Afterman is probably the best story Claudio has ever written, probably because comparatively, it’s using the sci-fi setting to tell what is actually a very human love story
