Why don’t more punk bands nowadays make actually relevant music instead of bullshit whining about nothing?
>>
>>129475806
Because you would call them woke.
>>
>>129475820
By relevant I don’t mean whining about Drumpf bad orange man bad he mean to the holy brown people. That got old 10 years ago.
>>
>>129475806
I am not bri'ish so I don't get it. wasn't this dude in the epstein files or something? right, so I checked it and dude was arrested for being a pedo, so how can you say that this isn't a song about a relevant happening? the song itself isn't particularly good though, I'll give you that.
>>
>>129475806
>relevant
Zoomie.... people have been dunking on Prince Andrew since before your parents were even born https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VHvYF6gXkSc
>>
Because working class people now make rap or electronic music instead. Middle class people most don't have a clue what they're talking about because they don't have real experience of hardship so they make silly music to sound egdy and cool but in reality they have the same politics as their mums and dads and will end up better off than most people

The whole reason punk came about was because it was easy to make but now even a punk band is a lot of effort compared to rapping or making music on a computer.
>>
>>129475806
We live in a deeply unserious age where ultra-woke, lefty turbofaggots and conspiracy theorist schizo retards dominate the political landscape.
It's impossible to make any kind of artistic statement about current events and still be seen like you have a cool, fresh take

>royal prince stripped of all his titles, income and privileges, similar things have only happened a handful of times in the last thousand years and then only in times of civil war/revolution
>then he actually gets arrested, coppers start searching his computers, King (his older brother) publicly says yep, go for it lads, string the fucker up
>not relevant tho
lmao just about the only more dramatic thing that could have happened would be if he managed to construct a cult of personality around himself despite being a genuinely bizarre, creepy weirdo and got elected to high political office (which, no longer being royal and not yet being a convicted criminal, he is now technically free to do). but that would be ludicrous of course, unthinkable. its so stupid that people of all political persuasions would just laugh at the suggestion.

To me, the biggest political statement you can make right now as a music artist is to stay out of politics. Note that I'm not suggesting people become fence-sitters without any principles, what I am saying is that as a music artist, your primary goal should be to entertain people and provide a level of escapism, rather than go on diatribes about your personal views on current events. It was once novel for musicians to write political music that went against the grain, but that novelty is gone now, and every motherfucker in Hollywood is pressured to have some opinion on something. Again, as an artist, whether it's a music artist, or actor, or visual artist or whatever, your primary goal should be to entertain people and provide a level of escapism from the world, and not reach through the screen to hit the audience over the head with real world issues, that ship sailed long ago.

because punk is counter-culture and being counter-culture in 2026 just results in being cancelled
no artists that want to share an anti-status-quo perspective will do it because it guarantees that you become a business leper (nobody will work with you) and whatever fans you do find will be small in number and either too self-aware to publicly reveal their fandom or too autistic to reflect well
>>
>>129478647
>because punk is counter-culture
Punk was originally a response to counter-culture, the original point of punk was as a response to the hippie movement, as they felt like the hippies were all just idle druggies that failed at bringing about meaningful change. That's why I always found it so funny when people tried to generalize punk is left-wing or right-wing, because it was both of these things, it was dominated by both Chuds and Tankies seething at moderate Liberals. The thing is that "true punk" really only existed for a brief time in the 70s and 80s since those were the generations who were actually responding to the hippie movement, anything beyond this is just a pastiche of the punk movement, because they're not responding to anything at that point, they're just playing what their parents were playing.
>>
>>129478658
yeah I agree pretty much
I've always been of the mind that the second you start labeling things as punk or not punk, you're already missing the point entirely`
>>
They are punks, they do what ever they they want
>>
>>129475806
Is this even worth listening to? That's probably why you don't see it as often.
>Prince Andrew is a sweaty nonce
There's literally nothing else to say. The title makes the song itself redundant.

The issue (not so much with punk, when the intention is to be as crass and simple as possible) is that many artists don't have anything to actually say that hasn't been said to death.

Also, not British so I don't follow this shit, but wasn't he fucking a 17 year old? Who the fuck cares. Is he only getting the brunt of r because he was royalty? That's fine, just curious because you know there was faggots on that island raping actual children.

>>
>>129475806
They're too afraid to go against the grain. The only relevant punk being released today just mirrors mainstream viewpoints. Everyone's afraid of being canceled. No one wants to be offensive. Most people are cowards.

Kanye's Heil Hitler song is more punk than all this safe edgy bullshit made today

Michale Graves just had some European shows canceled because of his political beliefs. This is what people are afraid of. Very few people have the balls to risk any sort of personal loss.

I wouldn't call rap listeners "working class", more like lumpenproletariat.
>>
>>129480251
some of them, yeah. especially the ones that aggrandize what they consider to be the bourgeoisie lifestyle of sex, drugs, and rock and roll, but there are cultural reasons for that
1. these are tangible markers of success, thus it signals to those around you that you've "made it"
2. it appeals to the working class joe who works to live and dreams of a better life
3. it's a tacit admission that the artist and the community to which they belong are willing to exist within a capitalist paradigm, which itself signals to the powers that be that they aren't revolutionaries who are interested in rocking the boat, and are "fit" for society. it's a sort of proclamation of worthiness, but also a plea for acceptance

not all rap is like this though, and a lot of it is "class conscious" and attempts to speak truth to power. of course, individual artists tend to have a varied catalog of works, i.e. any given rap artist may have a mix of songs or albums that cover material from all across the spectrum between "lumpenproletariat" and "class consciousness"

Good to see Andrew go down but I'm afraid he's getting scapegoated. They want to limit this all to Epstein, Maxwell, and Andrew. While thousands should be getting indicted, thousands. Anything to keep attention away from Israel.

> The whole reason punk came about was because it was easy to make but now even a punk band is a lot of effort compared to rapping or making music on a computer
NO. The whole reason punk came about was a confluence of a booming mid70s fashion scene in London meeting the height terrible socioeconomic conditions.

There was a garbage strike in London at the time. Garbage was piled up 20 feet. Imagine you’re a kid, glam is pretty much done give or take a Roxy Music album here or there, and you’re just seething with irritation at the bloated complacency that’s the soundtrack to your shit fucking life: Wings, ELO, ABBA, Steely Dan…. you‘re young, you’re angry … all you can smell is garbage as it's piling up … you’re parents can’t stop squawking over some cunt Queen and her upcoming jubilee meanwhile you’ve got fuck all quid to rub together… no prospects no opportunities shite food and shite weather.

If you want to post like a faggot you can always go to reddit.

I have no idea why you are responding to my post telling me I am wrong for a basic fact just to make an extremely gay point that is enlightening to nobody but yourself.
