Going in with no context whatsoever what I got from this is that it's a like a DJ set or mix of electronic and these more aggressive pop tunes. The tune that plays around 14 minutes in was my favorite. It blows my mind how many people can't hear how much more refined SOPHIE's sound design and mixing is than 99.9% of other electronic music. She's worshipped as an innovator when really she should be lauded as a musician first and foremost. Everything is so tightly controlled it must have been a false economy of effort to have sunk into making arrangements that pop this kinetic yet tight. Everything bounces just right. Now, a certain amount of that is inherent in a groovebox like the Monomachine, and I think some people ascribe things in their praise of her that are actually down to what tools she was using rather than her own talent, but by the end she was doing just as good at it in the DAW as she had been on the Monomachine, which takes more of the latter, and even if it relies on similar sleight of hand, which I'm not sure if it does or not, using these tools in this skilful a way is its own sort of virtuosity regardless.
